Carti stans wont shut the f*** up about how experimental and unique of an artist he is but rarely give music that’s 10x as unique and actually experimental (beyond just having some distortion) any attention

A lot of Carti fans put so much emphasis on him being so unique and making such experimental music (like comparing WLR to Yeezus) but if you really cared about artists being that unique and experimental you’d realize there’s artists pushing the boundaries much much further than carti

I’m not denying his influence or the fact he does have a unique sound but when people try to act like he’s the most creative and unique artist oat it just feels like they making up reasons to act like he’s the goat

But im saying like what artists in particular are pushing these boundries that Carti fans are ignoring?

-Billy Woods
-Elucid (Armand Hammer) but I think each of them deserve a mention because their solo work is really unique as well
-Pink Siifu
-Zelooperz
-Danny Brown (obviously but the bruiser brigade guys are unique as f***)
-Jpegmafia (even tho I personally am not a big fan his stuff is wildly creative)

Just people like that. A lot of the stuff those guys are making is super weird, Creative, experimental and just overall very abstract s***

Honestly it’s very minimal to me. Not much layering going on with the production, most of the beats are a few bars looped

This has always been Carti’s style and he’s sort of like the antithesis to a Kanye whose production is grand as f***. He and Pierre popularized the whole minimalist production while still being hard as f*** sound again imo

Like you can listen to a beat Carti gets on and count each sound on one hand

The production is very bare bones and that’s my favorite part about it for the most part

Its pretty average as far as trap production goes. Nothing in wlr's production feels particularly absent; it's the same snare hi hat 808 melody combo we've seen since SoundCloud started. That's not a bad thing but you did bring up Kanye as a reference so maybe it's just an issue of perspective

Eh it’s a different lane. Arguably Future, Thug and other Atlanta artists were making creative experimental music like Carti back in the day. Carti is continuing that

You wouldn’t expect big Future or Thug fans to be into those guys you listed necessarily
