Also they’re just pushing different boundaries. Carti is experimenting with his voice and melody more where those guys are doing something else
You kinda are saying that. Youre saying "They claim this is so great but they dont even listen to this other stuff that I think is better". Thats kind of implying that they should be listening to it.
Also, those guys are all very niche artists to be fair so are they even ignoring it or just not aware? And even if they are aware, what if they just dont like it? Nothing wrong with that
So you don’t see why people praising music for being experimental but ignoring or s***ting on other music that’s even more experimental isn’t kinda funny?

A lot of those artists are experimenting with their voice just as much or more than Carti
I also don’t really see how Carti is experimenting with melody, Can you explain that a bit further?

They don’t know what they’re talking about, to put it mildly
Sounds like a carti fan dissed one of your favorite "experimental" acts. Just because someone likes x and y doesnt mean they have to like z lol. What experimental music do you want Carti fans to pay more attention to?
Armand Hammer Haram is more comparable to jazz than Carti. Comparing Carti to jazz in that pretentious way is reaching and penny x has probably never heard a jazz album
What rules did Carti break that thug, future, keef, flocka, ect didn’t already, Carti just packaged it in a punk aesthetic with video game synths. Real groundbreaking stuff
Not the biggest fan of all these artists or anything but
-Billy Woods
-Elucid (Armand Hammer) but I think each of them deserve a mention because their solo work is really unique as well
-Pink Siifu
-Zelooperz
-Danny Brown (obviously but the bruiser brigade guys are unique as f***)
-Jpegmafia (even tho I personally am not a big fan his stuff is wildly creative)
Just people like that. A lot of the stuff those guys are making is super weird, Creative, experimental and just overall very abstract s***
Making weird music =/= good experimental music
Carti is too pretentious, especially when you remember the type of music he makes
That was a nasty comment I f*** with it lol
What other modern day artist has had the amount of influence he’s had on rap culture?
He’s only 3 albums in, and everytime he drops, everyone wanting to steal his swag, and image.
Drake, Cole, & Kendrick may be top 3, but who really copying them like Carti?
I mean huge implications of why we in a pretty meh wave of rap rn
And before certain users quote and b****, I enjoyed WLR.

what artists are experimenting with their voices? put some names
also
different voices
Carti dope to me, his influence not so much tho all the clones got annoying fast.
Kinda how I felt when everybody was copying Wayne back then
Lmao imagine this being the album with the most substance and his fanbase turning on him for it
Not that hard to understand man
Carti stans wont shut the f*** up about how experimental and unique of an artist he is but rarely give music that’s 10x as unique and actually experimental (beyond just having some distortion) any attention
i think a large portion of it is that Carti has a way stronger aesthetic than any of those experimental artists that you named, and plus he’s just seen as “cool” so it’s not embarrassing to listen to essentially
Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, Death Grips, etc. and anyone adjacent are artists that regularly get called “white people” music or “scaring the hoes” music and a large part of it is they just aren’t seen as “cool” tbqh
Carti rarely gets that treatment on here even though you could easily argue his music would fit the bill of the labels above, if they were actually all about the music they would also be at least aware or open to the other artists you listed, but it’s clear that’s not the only box they have to check

good thing the artists he listed are pretty good, try an album or two

Yea Carti and Danny deff remind me of each other in a sense. Idk how people don’t see it I think even Danny made a comparison at a point

Can’t wait for another just decent project I can pretend is a groundbreaking experimental classic, its so fun to do that with my guys on the internet
