The Thing is one of the best movies ever made and is a must watch.

Alien, The Shining, Psycho, IT & 28 Days Later are also really good.

    • 1408 massively underrated imo and made me feel really uncomfortable

    • The Mist is really good too but not really really scary

    • Black Swan, idk if it's considered a drama more than a horror

    • The Shining, one of the best lead performances in a horror movie ever by Jack Nicholsen

    • The Thing/The Fly if you're looking for gory body horror

    • In The Mouth Of Madness, it's the best Lovecraftian inspired film ever imo

The Lighthouse is great, it’s a horror movie but in a pretty unconventional way. It might be a good genre-adjacent movie to ease into the genre. Some of my favorite acting in a movie from Willem Dafoe, brilliantly written, and with an amazing visual style.
