Whole list ruined by the spoiler

Im just messing wit u but yea ive seen a few of those and the ones ive seen like texas chainsaw massacre and evil dead, Scream, the ring, halloween etc absolute mid for me

besides rosemary’s baby, Which i think is more of a drama/ thriller than a horror in my opinion.

That's a super diverse list of horror films tho, so dont write them all cause you didnt like those 3

And i mean, whether or not Rosemary's Baby is horror isn't really a matter of opinion. It is, in every conventional sense. Horror generally isn't a vague genre, and discussions about films being abstractly viewed as Horror is a pretty recent development. (It's also odd to read that in your reply after praising Aster's work, haha.)

On the other hand, calling a film a "Drama" is like calling a song "Rock". The label doesn't point to any specific style checklist that narrows down the genre. (Or at least it hasn't for a long time.) Its an umbrella term that exists to categorize a wide range of non-genre films.

Def gonna check some of those out still

and yea I agree with everything ur saying in an objective sense. Those movies are classified horror due to the specific tropes, pacing, plot points etc. specific to the horror genre .though I had this whole ass essay typed up explaining my own subjective definition of horror films but i lost it lmfao. Ultimately doesnt really matter
