Rather have DLC instead of a 3rd title full priced a year later with little updates
You're basically paying for a third game lol

Not at full price yet tho 😬
But overall it doesn't matter to me, Gamefreak has always been like this to since gen 2 or 3 & became overtly with it imo with either gen 5 or 6. Only difference is that they're calling it "DLC" now, but it's been pretty much the same with how they've always cut up & later sell "extra" content down the road after establishing something with the OGs.
Also does the update remove the max raid exploit?
Don't wanna update yet cuz I use the exploit to collect Luxury Balls from the guys then sell it for postive money at the market to buy stat medicines for competitive. Might have to do a big reup before updating
No that update only adds Slowpoke
Game Freak has nothing to do with Nintendo other than making Nintendo exclusive games.
This is 100% Game Freak’s fault.
Also, Game Freak is a bad developer anyway. They always have been but they get away with it because the gameplay of Pokémon is so dang fun.
There’s no excuse for Pokémon to not be in a BOTW type of world right or at the very least fully 3D throughout the entire game.
The game was way worse than it should have been to begin with and now they want to sell back half the game for an extra price?
No thanks
the game freak / nintendo relationship is more complicated than that.
pokemon sw/sh was essentially developed in a year. it began following sun/moon, but was sidelined bc of lets go.
additionally, BOTW is an absolute f***n triumph lmao. you shouldn't go around expecting games to run like that on the switch. what first-party nintendo can do with their s***ty hardware is not replicated by anyone else.

Making us pay for the rest of the Pokedex that they cut out and post game? Nah this is some new s***. This isn't anywhere near like buying Pokemon Crystal which was like $25 in 2001 or the $30 Emerald was. The expansion pass is goin to be like $25-$30. Then on top of that you have to buy Pokemon home subscription and they want you to buy Pokemon sleep. They're doing way more than milking you for an enhanced port.

Game Freak and Nintendo relationship isn't really complicated. Game Freak is a third party Dev team that create Pokemon games for Nintendo. Other than that, Game Freak can make games for whoever they want to. What's complicated is the Pokemon deal. Pokemon is owned by three different entities. Nintendo, TPCI, and Game Freak. Game Freak only gets a cut of it because it's their original idea, Nintendo owns the VG copyright and TPCI owns the merchandising rights. Nintendo owns the VG rights but they can't just take the games and get someone else to make it.
SW/SH didn't have a 1 year Dev time. It had a 3 year dev time. It wasn't shelved for Lets Go because Lets go was created by another team within the company while the another team worked on SH/SW and then the main team worked on Town.
Game Freak ALWAYS been terrible devs. That's only because they put new developers on games that aren't fully trained. Hell they're not even fully trained. Remember they got help in order to finish Gold and Silver and another company does sprite and 3D work for them.
Also that's BS. You have devs shrinking down gigantic games and putting them on the switch. That actually takes skills. For Game Freak to work with Nintendo hardware for so long and their games are constantly buggy that's a problem. It only got amplified once they started doing world wide releases. The Japanese releases use to be the test release for them to catch game breaking bugs. Gen 4 Diamond and Pearl in Japan was a broken mess.
What's funny is Masuda was so adamantly against DLC back during the 3DS era lmao. They're definitely not about making quality Pokemon games anymore. They just want your money.

Nah gen 3 was bad. Iirc, remember you couldn't get a lot of Pokemon without a GameCube, GameCube to GBA to controller accessory & one of the two sides games for mainly gen 2 & some gen 1 Pokemon that wasnt later corrected with the refreshes of gen 1? Or exclusive legends in side games like OG jirachi & Manaphy thus walling them off, & you have to have the knowledge on how to transfer? Gen 3 is my Fav, but that's when it started to get bad imo. Gen 2 was the beginning, but not egregious & Crystal actually flipped the story quite a bit. Also our US Firered/leafgreen had cut content of the random blank cave that would have made getting previous gen pokemon easier too.
It got better after that for a while, but that's because everything became focused on the DS era & eventually everything got integrated for it & 3DS.
The move to a brand new console ecosystem always resets the Pokedex in a way. The biggest ones being Gen 3 & now this.
It's completely s***ty, but again imo their greedy practices & gouging has always been there with a followable pattern & overt situations.
Then all the leftover & blatant unfinished stuff in X/Y rushing over to Sun/Moon, how the "3rd" game for black & white are the first to actually became two MORE games, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon introducing more totally new Pokemon outside of it's OGs then walling off the OG players from these new pokemon in trades & battles, & having these additional refreshes have even MORE version exclusive Pokemon, thus encouraging people to buy multiple & multiple copies or leaving them out.
They always been scummy. Only gen 2 & gen 4 are the most innocent (while og gen 1 doesnt count in this convo) imo.
The gigantic community upset should have been started a while ago, but at this point, to me, its too late & is their usual practices/rollouts (although I'm not saying "don't get upset", just that it isnt new).
There's a chance this is just the first round of DLC right?
If so Im just gonna wait for the inevitable final edition that includes all the DLCs
glad I waited this one out

They probably won't have an "ultimate/goty" type edition, Nintendo like never does that if im not mistaken & the same will be for Gamefreak more than likely. You can wait for the Season Pass to maybe go on sale one day tho.
But yeah, there should be at least one more after this since it's called a season pass & that means more than one DLC, like BOTW & other titles outside of Nintendo.
How much content that come out after this first one is unknown rn, but there should be at least one more.

Ok, Gen 3 was fragmented due to the GBA not being able to connect to the GB. A remake for Gen 1 & 2 was needed because both of those games were either a buggy mess or barebones due to them not having the skills or knowledge to program. So taking most of the Gen 2 Pokemon and splitting them up between FR/LG and emerald wasn't a bad idea. That whole idea in FR/LG was scrapped outside of Japan because Cell Phones still wasn't popular in 2004. Manaphy was an event pokemon and was eventually given out for free.
It wasn't NEARLY as bad as cutting over half of the pokemon then giving the excuse that it's because it was too much work. That turned out to be a lie, they're selling us 200+ old pokemon with these probably being broken up between the two DLC with like 4 new galarian Pokemon and gigantamax forms that should have already been in the game.
I think you're heavily underestimating how bad of a slippery slope this is. This isn't nearly the same as making an enhanced port of the game. Something many game companies do. They're literally selling us Pokemon now for 20+ dollars. Not an improved version. It's no way you can compare this to a Black and White 2. Hell you can't even compare this to a Platinum. Both of those games have more content than ANY Pokemon game made. At least in those your getting a game that's enhanced with new content and tightened up programming.
Just started playing Sword last night

The game is super easy, you should be fine. Just catch Pokémon and battle your way to victory.
The only advice that would help you in this game is learn the typing matchups if you need to. If this is your first Pokémon don’t be affraid to google the typing of an opponent’s Pokémon to know how to use.
Otherwise, this is the easiest mainline Pokémon game ever so you shouldn’t have trouble.
I will say I recommend quick balls to catch Pokémon when you have access to them and throw them first turn. If it doesn’t work first turn than use fight and catch Pokémon the normal way.

Thanks.... I more so need help with all the new items I guess... like all these berries and foods and all these weird items I have no idea about
And experience candies.... like when is the best time to use those and stuff?
I’ve seen what DynaMax Pokémon are... but like Gigantamax and shiny andnI mean I’m still really early in the game... I didn’t even get to the first major city yet... Motosoke or whatever.... I’m in the wild area right before it currently
I guess I’ll learn more about these things as I go along in the game?
And I have absolutely no clue about breeding
$30 for something that should have been in the game in the first place lmao
F*** you Gamefreak
