You have to power up your Pokemon EV values or catch Pokemon with the best ev values. Nature's and abilities were removed so you have to catch multiple Pokemon and look at the circle with the number next to stats. For example, if you catch two Starly, one Starly may have a 1 next to it's Attack stat, while the other may have a 2 or a 3 next to multiple stats. You can also buff Pokemon using grift dust that you trade to the training dojo.
Natures are in the game though? And yeah i was wondering what those numbers meant lol

I thought they removed Natures. I never paid it any attention. Always just looked for the Pokemon with the best effort values. You'll see a massive improvement once those are powered up.
Also y'all the Aux potions work wonders in this game. Make sure y'all are crafting that for battles.
So I've played this now for 3 days and reached the third area but I haven't really posted my thoughts here yet. Here are some of my first impressions.
I really appreciate the more streamlined gameplay. Feels good and natural to throw out a Pokémon from your team with just a button press, or throw out a Poké Ball just as easily and catch the little sucker you've been quietly approaching while hiding in the tall grass.
It is pretty relaxing to run around the sectioned-off worlds collecting items and trying to catch Pokémon who behave differently and thus have to be approached differently.
I like how filling the Pokédex does not just consist of catching a Pokémon. To complete a Pokémon's entry in the Pokédex, we actually need to observe their behaviour and interact with them as well to get more information for the Pokédex, which feels more realistic and fitting in this attempt at a sectioned-off but somewhat open-world Pokémon adventure.
The graphics are not as bad as I initially thought either, based off of trailers and screenshots I had seen before launch. There are many moments in the game where it does look pretty and remind me of BotW in some of the areas (for example in the images below that are from my own gameplay).
While I do appreciate the game so far, it's kind of just "good" at this point. I'm not amazed by it, but I do appreciate it and find it enjoyable and refreshing. There hasn't been any "woah" moments where I've been shocked, or laughed, or said WOAH THAT SHI CRAY, or been overtly impressed and surprised somehow. It's been more of a "smooth sailing" experience. Pleasant, but nothing really memorable or impactful yet.
Still, this is definitely a Pokémon experience I hope they continue to build upon for their future games. The old formula been played for WAY too long.
Let me know how you like it bro.
I didn’t end up buying it today but maybe tomorrow lol
Peep my impressions above G

So how are they gonna handle imports? Can't remember if Pokemon Go has natures or not
Do they just give a neutral nature and standard ability if you transfer to mainline?

Yeah Natures and Abilities aren't in this game. I just got on the game and didn't see natures. But what they'll probably do is have the Pokemon convert as they're transfered over to Legends. It'll be like what the 3DS releases of Red/Blue/Yellow or Gold/Silver/Crystal where the Pokemon are transfered to XY/ORAS or Sun/Moon and given a nature. The case of legends I think k Pokemon will have their nature removed and stats redistributed. Because a lot of people had their stats rebalanced.

Tbh I wanna know more about the other way around
Like transferring from legends to gen 9. If it’s really that easy to get shinys I’m guessing a lot of people will want to move them over

hm natures are in the game
You sure because I couldn't find them on the status screen
As much as I’m enjoying this I feel like I gotta super spicy take on it
go ahead

On the stats there’s a red arrow up and blue arrow down for the nature. And on the last page it says the nature as well
Reset for modest cyndaquil last night. Only took 3 tries
There was some review I read or watched that mentioned this game having more of a Monster Hunter formula/gameplay loop and I have to say that it does indeed remind me of the MH formula a lot. I played MH Rise for a while last year and I find many similarities.

I see it. Since it's no competitive I didn't even really care now. Probably the first Pokemon game since Gen 4 I didn't get the best nature for every Pokemon.

It's monster Hunter with Pokemon. Even has the music change when a alpha Pokemon is near by just MH when alpha monsters are near by. GF messed up by making people think it was BOTW like.

That’s why I was wondering how mons will transfer to gen 9
It’s like they kept some aspects of comp and then left stuff like abilities out. But some of the Pokémon have abilities in the code so idk. S*** is a mess
Regardless tho you can catch like 10 of the same Pokémon with ease so I’ve been doing that and just picking the one with the best nature to take with me
my GameStop preorder showed up 4 days late and they forgot the pre order bonus
only reason I copped physical was because my dumbass saw the ad for the preorder bonus

It'll work like Let's Go. It's not really that complicated. Let's go is pretty similar to this game. It'll just convert the Pokemon to whatever they have it in the new game. So if it's a Teddiursa with it's two abilities in Gen 9 and it comes from Legends it'll be a Teddiursa with a chance to have either ability. That's how let's go worked.
