JaytoI read that but the subreddit found out it was something on Nintendo's side. However this is the first time we've heard of it so I doubt it's unrelated to the game. It's crazy how much power the Pokemon name has over people. Had this been someone else they would have been crucified
Yup I said this same thing. Its crazy nobody really talking about it and its hardcore fans are downplaying the issues. The game is fun to an extent but it has some serious flaws.

The game has a long early pacing then its all down hill after the first badge.

Not rushing through it but everything you just breeze through the longest thing so far for me is finding new Pokémon cause they’re encounter rates for the most part are low af, literally just spent 40 min trying to find an eiscue

Yeah I think they probably in the wild area or catching pokemon or just leaving their game on. The pacing move fast after the first gym.

First impressions after playing for like 7 hours and beating 1 gym:
The Wild Area and free camera movement leaves a good taste in my mouf. Once you got that first taste of the free camera movement and ability to just run around freely and explore, it felt very right. Surely it isn't a complete open world experience, but it feels like a good start that Game Freak can build upon in future games.
Max Raid Battles are WAY more fun than I thought. Beating up a big boss Pokémon with 3 other players is pretty satisfying, and you get some sweet rewards for doing it (like Rare candies, TM's and other items). You also get a chance to catch them once you beat them if you want.
Besides the pretty lame graphics/animations compared to other games on the Switch and in this console generation, this is so far just as good as any other Pokémon game. If you liked the previous games then you should like this too. It feels a Pokémon game, but with a slightly bigger scope and some sprinkles of what could hopefully be emphasized more in future entries of the series (open worlds/areas/free camera movement).

There’s a Hair salon in Motostoke town. If you go to the counter and pick “Make-up” instead of “Hairstyle”, you can change your eye color and eyebrows and stuff like that. If your character is a girl then you can put on make up as well. - Nov 17, 2019Korpse

I do wish that GameFreak had pushed the bar more for the franchise with its first new generation on a home console, but I guess they starting out kinda slow by introducing a few new features like the Wild area and free camera movement. I am not really salty tbh. Most of the things that people have criticized are things that I don’t care much about. All I want is a more open world Pokémon game with free camera control and better graphics. I’m enjoying this game a lot for what it is. At the end of the day, Sword/Shield is just as good as any other Pokémon game.
