• Archie was suppose to be a Gym leader and his "Marine Gang" was more like a cult than a gang
• Maxie was the Director of Devon Corp, he forced President Stone into funding his "Tunnel Gang" criminal activity to expand the underground. His subordinates has infiltrated Devon Corp at all positions.

I'm going to assume that's what the updated ORAS designs are reflecting. That's why Maxie looks corporate and Archie looks more wild. Maybe they wanted to bring this idea back but with only 12 months they didn't have time.

They should’ve implemented it for SWSH tho

They even got rid of the dynamic attack animations. I would have got rid of 3D if it meant keeping some style.

They was definitely cooking and the fact they still haven't brought this back make me think it wasn't the 3D but the lack of polish and time.
