does anyone know why the US and the USSR were in Korea in this first place?
was the ussr just trying to expand? I know they liberated Manchuria and I guess you can assume they were trying to do the same for Korea

Korea was under occupation of Japan during WW2 and when they surrendered, the USSR agreed with the USA to split it, im not 100% if there was some f***ery to the split like Germany were if there was one unified Germany they would vote the communist party into power so America wanted to split them.
Been reading slowly recently but in Liberalism a counter history when he talks about christians role in abolishment despite them being fundamentalist they had some lines about how we should disregard the laws of banking capita It's crazy to think those christians now days just became servants of the same banking capital.

Currently reading The Shining Path of Peru by David Scott Palmer. It's about the violent Maoist group in Peru who almost overthrew the government there in the 1980s, it's basically a collection of academic papers.
Doesn't seem like it has the greatest reviews, so not looking to read every word, but looking to hopefully extract some important info from it.
here's a podcast episode of the PCP, its from a maoist and it briefly goes over there history so take in account the bias and such its only 30 mins

the funniest thing is that the "domino theory" proposed by the foreign policy people at the time doesn't really work logically
has anybody read this one/knows anything abt the author? I found it randomly and was intrigued by some of its essays

Just finished A Threat of the First Magnitude by Aaron Leonard
Fascinating read on counter-intelligence tactics utilized by the FBI and how deeply they penetrated into the New Communist Movement, particularly Maoists.
It also shows the vulnerabilities in organization and the instability of the human element. Just pure social engineering was able to provide the majority of takedown.

I really like the way Fanon writes in Wretched of the Earth, really vivid prose that draws you in.
Just started reading it.
So much info is packed into the pages, it gets a bit tiring to read, so I feel like i’m going a bit slowly to digest it
