it's not like they need him commercially or he's some new hot wave, they've been doing this for Push for 20 years. you don't think there's a reason for that?

Great point, I'm not quite as educated on Pharrell's music, but at least for Kanye, I just don't think he'd make something as generic as Who What for example, and I feel like his interpolation of Cell Therapy was lacking compared to others. I shouldn't be hating, I did reply like Astroworld overall

music needs marketing. having ye as your hypeman is a great a marketing plan
his biggest projects like Daytona and HHNF aren't carried by features, so it's not like he's musically carried by features.
he does more numbers and streaming than some projects with big producers on. so he has a base beyond kanye and pharrell stans

I also disagree with the notion that the complexity of lyrics of the rappers you listen to had any relationship with your own intelligence. I also disagree with the concept of intelligence, but this isn't the time and place.

some of that comes down to lyricism tho. Breathe in Breathe Out is more generic than almost every Kanye beat in the early 2000s and has a generic Luda hook. The only thing that stops it being completely generic are kanye's verses.
But yeah, he's not making as many unique tracks as Kanye to make up for it. He still does some unique things on Astroworld tho. it's not all music by numbers
