That's not what people think when they hear "producer" and it's a big misconception that Travis is this amazing producer when in reality, he stole the beats that got him attention. He hasn't produced a song himself on any of his albums. Maybe a better term for Travis would be an executive producer or a curator of sounds. That I would agree with because he has a good ear for music, just wouldn't call him a producer

That's not what people think when they hear "producer" and it's a big misconception that Travis is this amazing producer when in reality, he stole the beats that got him attention. He hasn't produced a song himself on any of his albums. Maybe a better term for Travis would be an executive producer or a curator of sounds. That I would agree with because he has a good ear for music, just wouldn't call him a producer
yeah trav isnt banging on an mpc all the time but by my definition he’s a producer. some of these people are being called producers when they’re making drum loops or something. to me if someone brings together a guy with great drums, another with great melodies, and a pianist or something and guides them and adds his touch then he produced the song with his co-producers.
trav has a pretty checkered past tho i remember there was a lot of slanderous things said about him round 2012-13 on ktt but musically he’s still amazing

Yeah Timbaland comes up with the melody when he’s not sampling. He hums/beatboxes that s*** and his crew play the melodies on the keyboard. Then he lays drums on it.

I’m pretty sure from the way that many praised him for his production (pharrell) that he must be directly involved with every beat even if he doesn’t make it himself
I think if you tell the producer “yo add a flute here and make it go doodlediiddltdoooOOOOoo” then you produced it with them

I just used to hear these misconceptions that Travis is this amazing producer all the time but he hasn't actually produced anything notable. He even stole the beats that got him attention to begin with. Kanye was actually a legendary producer before he became a rapper. I think it's just disingenuous to call Travis a producer. I think what you describe is an executive producer

That's an executive producer. I find it hard to believe that Travis is super hands on with the production. I imagine the extent of his input is saying s*** like "Make it sound dark" lol
