i think it glorified the scummy wall street persona instead of vilifying it which i think was maybe its goal.

The original blade runner has a scene like this too

Where the woman is clearly trying to leave and Decker will not let her and then he kisses her and the audience is supposed to be on his side

you can look at the movie very simply as just a story about Jordan Belfort's life, which in that case there is no problem with it.

but, i do think the movie glorifies yuppie culture. Jordan does lose his family and goes to jail in the end of it, but most people I know who love the film just see Jordan as being a fkn beast who finessed his way into some good times and money and was boning margot robbie, and the only thing he got was a slap on the wrist. Again, this could just be showing how unserious our justice system treats white collar crimes, thus making it a reality. but i dont think that necessarily a good reality to advertise in a sense, nor do i think many took away that message, more so just that being a scummy stock trader is fkn sick!

fair enough, i see the same reaction for a goodfellas despite Henry ending up in Witsec.

i can’t put that blame on Scorcese tho

honestly if you get caught up in the fun spectacle i can see how you end up as the usual wolf of wall street business major.

outside of that it should easy to see how s***ty jordan belfort is throughout the film

“he didn’t give up, he got down” was the slogan for this movie

funny thing is that this movie was actually trying to make social commentary about white people not understanding racism until they’re being discriminated against on the basis of race

spike lee as well as the NAACP hated this movie

it was seen as an attack on affirmative action programs, being stereotyped in the same way like how gender is today for reactionaries

For some reason the Wikipedia link just isn't working but The Bridge, a documentary from 2006, is downright evil and should never have been made, this shortened link to the wiki might work
