I don’t understand what you guys mean about quality will be going down now. Isn’t everything on pause after this? Actors can’t work on any new movie?
With the pandemic, Barbie coming out the same day as OPPENHEIMER and now this strike, my man Nolan has had some of the worst luck with his past two releases
She can be my barbie
I think without the free Barbie press / viral marketing, Oppenheimer would have struggled to even get to $30M on opening weekend, it looks like $50M is the floor now.
You know what, I never thought of it like this and you are right.

REAL CINEMA (Barbie) ALWAYS WINS.
What in 2024 is coming that won't be affected?
Was mostly talking about releases this year, but like the first 3 months or whatever of 2024 are still safe ig

Doubt it. March 2024 is supposed to be Beyond the Spider-Verse. If we thought that was delayed before, now it's really delayed lol
post-corona “well its obvious cgi bad bc corona happen” part 2
we’re finished
Jesus Christ lmao

Someone educate me if im wrong. Yea $400 is crazy but the staffing on these shows and movies are hefty af. How would they pay them all living wages.
Also why do actors get compensated way way more than the writers that create the content

Lol we gon have non sag bet movies
These wealthy actors so happy to do nothing

Are all writers and actors part of these unions? If not, I wonder if any would even take part in writing and acting due to the backlash they might receive.

If I was up and coming I’d work till I got a guild invite. Not my fault y’all didn’t invite me

Actually, I'd argue this was perfect timing because they managed to get this s*** out before this all came crashing down

Well why would you employ that many people? Why would you try to create a show that expensive?

To answer your first question…. it’s reported that Bob Iger earns over $25 million a year, a lotttt of that money could be going to writers instead . If Disney can pay their execs several millions a year, they can absolutely afford to pay living wages for writers
And for your second question…the stars are the ones who sell the tickets, a movie with s***ty writing can still do decent numbers if it has popular stars in it.
I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s just the unfortunate truth tbh

You're right, I would completely take advantage of this situation too. F*** em. What if this strike ends up making some breakthrough movie/tv stars? That would actually be dope.

That’s a positive way of looking at it
Idk when the last time there was an actors strike. Agents probably now more than ever looking for new talent
Or we start seeing more musicians, Twitch streamers, and YouTubers in movies/shows

I mean shows/movies in general have really huge staff. So much s*** behind close doors that we don't know about. But for a MCU show I'm sure they had to go all out. It's was 6 30 min episodes too so not too crazy

Jon Voight and Michael Madsen are the two “big” names not in the SAG so that should give you an idea.
