Movie was good, I enjoyed it but the more is it with it I see more critiques. I like Rob’s performance but I agree with the critique of him playing Chris Hansen way more unhinged than I feel like Hansen presented himself. I was expecting it.. but not so much on camera or when making the show happen. Maybe some moments BTS.

Also felt like the climactic part of the story line.. didn’t hit THATTT hard. The way they wrote the standoff was kinda weak, but I’m not too sure on what’s fact or fiction tbh. If it went that way it went that way.

Dope to see Bokeem Woodbine in this movie tho ngl that’s my nigga. And my son Toby from Servant. All in all it was cool but I was expecting more. Probably wouldn’t watch again

Pretty much the exact same thoughts

Yeah I feel like seeing Hansen flip between the unhinged and normal would have been more impactful. He basically just acted depraved and on the verge of breakdown for the duration of the film.

On some real reflective s***, this was shallower than expected. If I had to rate it, then it would be good but it doesn't touch greatness. I struggle with numbered ratings

Numbered ratings has ruined entertainment discussion

the real stand off didnt go down that way at all they sensationalized it . It was a situation where he sexted a minor and mentioned that he wanted to take sexual pictures with said minor mentioning he had done it before which had them believe he had child p*** in his possession which he did.

Alright we can stop all discussion now.

Robert and Phoebe carried the movie with a very shallow plot. The children waking up scene was not a big deal. The atmosphere and cinematography are fire, but would fit better with a more dramatized movie that's even more crazier.

    Love the president joke.

All in all. An okay movie. Not boring, but it's not super exciting to rewatch

The children waking up scene was not a big deal "to you". When you take into account that is his only seen with his kids he claims to care about the entirety of the movie and the show takes place over 3 years and the movie dont know exact time frame but at least 3 months. It paints a picture of absent father . Again if Obama has a whatever this is and he wakes up to show his kids drone strikes or him winning a pulitzer prize. Someone would call it a biased hack job. Lance saying "I am such a fan of Chris Hansen I am making films the way I make films because of him" then all the details he changed are to creative a negative view of him. Yeah its worth mentioning. Especially because in doing so now dumbass conspiracy theorist are like "see they made many negative changes to reality to make a hero look bad"

Yeah this movie is as bad as the queen biopic. 24 hours later it's already aging on me. It's just a cool imdb project for Robert Pattison

I really love the aesthetic and acting by the duo, but man the plot is really trying so hard to "raise stakes" and I barely felt any tension compared to resident evil lol

Can’t entirely compare stakes to re. I think court cases getting thrown out . The belief that it was self serving with repeat offenders . Is better than cheating scandal . The ratings angle didn’t even work .

i feel like he was more worried about it (at least in the movie) because its like a perceived moral failure for a self appointed arbiter of morality

so like people could use it to attack his credibility

They did it to show he was fighting his own demons not a good dad or husband also for the tabloids he was the prey . When really he was more being used by nbc and perverted justice in real life . Perverted justice was getting 100k an episode and continued existing til 2018. NBC did a settlement and Jeff zucker continued working there then cnn. Chris Hansen contract wasn’t renewed after to catch a predator left in 2013

That’s why they forced it from 2011 to 2006 in the reality . Made from a juicier narrative in their mind . Literally every single change they made was to make Chris Hansen look worse . I won’t say they tried to make the predators look good but they framed it as entrapment including the climax when that isn’t how it went

It was the 2000s tbf. The average scandal then is a nothingburger now. It felt also presented more in context of his actual personal life and not whether media heard about it. He was worried about his wife knowing

He didn’t have any cheating scandal til 2011 they moved it up to have a spicier plot

The was an entertaining film. I had a great time watching it. I think Rob did a great job acting, especially because he never took me out of the movie - never thought “oh Rob Pat is playing this character”. The music was also spectacular, def going to do a dive into Ari B. I also think David Bolen has a unique way of filming and I’m happy Lance has utilized him through multiple projects.

This movie does really well as entertainment alone. Idk what Lance has said about the movie/process, so if this was an attempt to recreate something/retelling I don’t think it landed. It’s mad weird that they didn’t reach out to anybody on the TCAP team. I think they could have used the crazed man obsessed with numbers, fame, identity, and his moral standing in life better. His family felt like they had zero stakes on his life. I get how the article played into his “downfall” but again his family almost felt pigeonholed into the story (could be the point 🤷‍♂️).

Ultimately, fun piece of entertainment. Cinematography, music, and acting def did the heavy lifting of this movie. Also, did Dan the Decoy order a gun at the end and was planning on doing the same thing as the judge, until he saw the SAG letter? What do we think was in the package?
