i was going on a Prince binge earlier today at work, & gave his debut album For You a proper listen for the first time, and i have to say that, that album is such an underrated gem in his discography! it's insane to think he was 19/20 at the time, producing, writing, arranging and composing all those songs alone in the studio. it was clear from that moment he was a prodigy. the man was a studio wizard! 🐐
Still pissed that the songs from the Crystal Ball comp couldn’t make it onto the SOTT super deluxe

Yes bro I love it so much it’s a early gem and you could hear the potential of what was to come. I read a lot of interviews and reviews around that era to why it wasn’t as praised. And basically it was because when that album dropped people looked at it as somebody just trying to be Stevie wonder. Still it was great music but oh well. They caught on 2 years later

yes you can definitely see the foundation of the rest of his career being laid down on this album, it's really cool to see. could you send me some cool interviews or write-ups around this era?
really wish Prince would've dove a lil bit more into the rock sound, and make a full fledged rock album in his prime😭

Is there anything in particular that you're looking for? I know a lot of his s*** hidden in the deep in the internet on blogspots.

Vault Keeper Michael Howe confirmed on the radio this year, new vault release otw but he couldn't say what
i know im not stating anything new or groundbreaking but 1999 has to be top 3 in Prince's discography, am i right? great album. Little Red Corvette just might be his greatest song ever. his musical ingenuity will forever remain unmatched.

definitely in his top 5 for me atleast, every track is just so fleshed out and funky . Also the fact it really pushed Prince into the mainstream world with 1999 and Little Red Corvette. Plus international lover >>>>
hopefully the next vault collection they release is either for Around the World in a Day or Parade would absolutely kill for either of those collections

without a doubt. i love all prince records but 82-84 arguably his artistic peak. he was on a diff level during that era

was kinda questioning the estate's order of rolling out these remaster/collections but i'm guessing they probably wanted the landmark projects out first. and yes we need those 85-87 period works so i can complete my unreleased album configurations among other enjoyments lmao
