Private Joy is crazy good. How did he make a song about jerkin his d*** off sound so good.

I need to hear the og version called Dear Uncle George lmbo thats a crazy title for this song given the content in it. Like everytime prince says private Joy in the song replace it with Dear Uncle George. it's on some sister s***. Or maybe the lyrics are completely different who knows

  • GOAT level, how did he wake up in the morning after doing this?

Why didn't he ascend to the higher plane after this? Harmony Super saiyan.. Was he tethered to the ground in the studio so he wouldn't float away with the angels?

Housequake will make me punch a hole through concrete while I do my dip dance

Did you ever get SOTT rehearsal i put up on this thread? Oh my jesus, he slave driving the groove like a paisley park plantation.

It is crazy how your rehearsal had to be on that LEVEL. Everyone was scared to death of Prince saying 'You need to step it up'

BUT the sickest thing in lsitening to SOTT rehearsal (other than prince himself) is how amazing Sheila E and how she slays across a huge ass drum kit. More drums & cymbal sets than Prince plays instruments. If there is any doubt that Sheila isn't one of the baddest drum kit drummer's, she silences it with that rehearsal

When Housequake starts, he had to know listening to that horn sxn & that breakdown with Sheila going off. Gaaaah damn.

    Illest band's of the 80's/90's/2000's/half of 10's

  • The new 1999 deluxe release is outstanding. I love that we're getting all this music lately.

Yoooo that’s ITT? Listening immediately, honestly I’m a big Price neophyte so I didn’t even know Sheila was still ripping s*** up with him when they were doing that album, figured she left with the rest of the Revolution

Does that mean the tweaked LinnDrum on Ballad of Dorothy Parker was her work as well? good god, she was KILLING it

No, that's Prince. the majority of SOTT is Prince. I was pointing out how deadly Sheila is on not just percussion. A lot of people know that from the award show's and music video's but her drum kit ability is

She had to wait in the wings a few years before she became the drummer.

If you listen to the rehearsal, you will hear the drum triggers she had to do as well. That's why she's a beast.

With Prince you had to handle the full song as a musician, figure it out. It could've been recorded the other day, you still have to learn it. Everyone was scrambling

But that's part of the reason what made his band so amazing. His rehearsals are just like concerts only no one shouting over all the nuances & there is no auditorium echo.

The rehearsals are magic hour s***. That band is unreal and the way he is singing?

    What’s this

Sign o the times 1987 tour rehearsal at his studio complex , when you put this on it is like being in the room, you hear Prince talking to his band & more importantly performing with his band, it’s like a private concert with no audience. They go through the whole show and then some. I actually prefer this to the tour show because you can hear every instrument & that’s important with something like this.

Prince at Bagley Warehouse Aftershow 1993 probably 2 in the morning. Some fans drove 5 hours just to see him & you gamble every time because they never say if he’s performing, you just show up & hope he likes the sound man at the club.😨😨😨 Now keep in mind this band just got done playing and here they are with no sleep. That’s another thing, you were afraid to go to sleep because he might need you. Don’t miss the call. 😳😳😳

This night he brought the band & his touring companions. Starts around 4 minutes in, if you want to see the walk to the stage, 3 minutes.

Nice set and if you don’t know these songs, nice variety of material. Good show to watch and it is pro shot.

Here is scan of the ticket

Here he is playing a guitar he didn’t play often, the clef guitar.

And here he is playing the SNL anniversary special promoting Batman soundtrack.

Few things to note, he’s playing Electric Chair. Which just goes to show Prince played whatever he wanted.

Great Performance & interesting band, they didn’t really tour in 89, it gives us an idea of the band configuration. Such a riff 😤

  • Here we go:

Another b side I love , the harmony vocals on this:

  • @Canon , don't miss the update. You never know what's coming but you should mention the estate news that his sister sold her percentage in the estate.

She should've given it to michael howe, he's the only one spending hours with the music deciding what the fan's would like to hear and whats presentable.

    He was homophobic

Sadly Seems like that was because of his religious beliefs.

I wouldn't say he had hate for the gay community. His religion stood in the way for showing love to them sadly. The days of Uptown and jerking his guitar off were long gone by sign o the times and officially over with lovesexy.

I feel like his religion and relationship with God is what kept him going and overcoming his issues with sex, fame and loneliness. anna stesia sums it up. Finding the solution in s***(boy or girl) then finding god and focusing his energy on god and working for him. To him same s***relationships were meaningless since they weren't part of his work with god. sad but he would have went insane without his religion. its what fuelled him to work to his dying day and make great art.
