It's a good movie, nothing groundbreaking. Was impressed by the Gosling performance more than anything

What are the top original things coming this year like no sequel , adaptation or based on real life ?

ngl tho this was like a disney scifi movie for adults

I think the rating was PG-13, which I didn’t even know going in. Definitely one of the best all ages oriented movies I’ve seen from the duo since Spider-Verse (which isn’t shocking)

If they ever are going to go back into adult humor they better come back hard

Yeah basically me great film making visually and gosling carry but I think the book itself plot they adapted is only so good . Makes me wish world war Z actually adapted the book and ready player one

I think they found a winning formula though. Script that plays directly into Gosling's strengths + doesn't require you to think too hard. It's clearly playing very well with general audiences which is what they needed to happen with that outrageous budget. Should easily make its money back and then some, with an outside shot at some awards season love. Basically best case scenario for Amazon MGM

One guy in mine I swear knew what was about to be said before it was said. He laughed so immediately after a joke was said. Must have seen it the Sunday screening.

Maybe I wish the movie wasn’t so fast and loose, however, I’ve been listening to the audio book and some lines in this are way worse then what showed up in the movie

The movie definitely tones it down, and I think Gosling plays it more confused and out of his depth

  • just got out of my showing.

the Project Hail Mary book is a big reason why I started reading again. it had been almost a decade since I picked up a book, and I finished it in record time. I fell in love with the characters, the plot, and the hard science. as soon as I saw that Phil Lord and Chris Miller were attached to direct this movie, my worries disappeared. this is as flawless as an adaptation as you can get. truly spectacular in every single way, be it the visuals, the cosmic sounding score, and the performance of a lifetime given by Ryan Gosling. on future rewatches, this will stand tall as one of the best sci-fi movies of the decade.

    10/10

There's Reddit/Facebook humor in the movie too it's just delivered by Ryan Gosling so it isn't as corny and annoying

Did you get popcorn and a drink? Movies so good.

  • Just got out. I hadn't read the book but I knew it was based on the same mf from the Martian

I thought it was a nice movie. Visually it's better than most modern sci fi movies but there isn't anything "visionary" or "spectacle" there. Gosling is hilarious and I think this will do very well commercially. It's a great family movie with a warm center.
