i havent seen this but does this have the right to be compared to interstellar? Im seing interstellar erasure. Like are they even alike or is it just because theyre space movies.
F*** no
Came across the unfortunate news that niggas on twitter are shipping the characters in this movie.
Like he’s a rock, bro. He’s a talking rock. What are we doing?

Mord like mid mid, like the actual meaning
Not bad not good, a 6/10
I'm probably in the minority here but I thought it was just a really well made crowd-pleaser and nothing more than that.
What worked for me: production design, visuals and overall feel-good vibe.
What didn't quite work for me:
A lot of the humor felt very Marvel-coded and it didn’t land for me. Every time Rocky/Grace quipped, I kept thinking of James Gunn... it has that same vibe as Drax where the joke is basically “I don’t fully understand the language/social cues,” and it just got a bit repetitive. Doesn't help that Gunn also has a habit of creating emotional ties between animated with live action characters.
Also gave me flashes of TARS from Interstellar with the whole “humor setting” style banter. It just felt too familiar.
Tonally it bounced too much between a grounded sci-fi with the whimsy of a Pixar film — I thought those two tones clashed and it was jarring for me
Been reading the book, gonna go see the movie maybe later today or the weekend. Bout a quarter of the book remaining so far.
Man I couldn’t have asked for a better adaptation of one of the most fun books I’ve read in the last few years
Marvel ruined blockbuster family genre comedy for everyone because this was not the mcu style of jokes. This was like a 1:1 Pixar style of jokes imo. Like the pacing of the jokes, the line deliveries, the rhythm in the editing and where the cuts would be etc. Marvel have a monopoly on corny joke interjection amid dramatic scene but I feel like this movie was Pixar recipes
Also Sandra Huller being cast in this was so inspired. Could’ve gone with a bigger American name but they didn’t and thank god. She can do such precise acting in non English language indie stuff, I didn’t know she could open it up and do broad comedic s*** in English! She was a crucial part of the mix in this and she killed it
Finished up the book today, not gonna have time to see this until next week tho. I book was good. The comedic elements were pretty flat for me ngl. Probably let out a faint snort at something that was suppose to be funny maybe twice throughout the book.
This is a transition from the type of books I typically read. Like 90% of books I’ve read in the last 2 years have had multiple POVs. It all being Grace’s pov, his inner monologues, for like 75% of the book took some adjustment ngl. This is definitely hard sci-fi which I really really like. I thought the reveal with his last memory was a nice curve ball. I would’ve like for him to have went back to Earth though ngl.

Enjoy the movie report back
If you thought the book humor was corny I pray you don’t get an audience that finds everything funny

Yeah but does it really matter though it’s better left open ended
