Has nothing to do with Xbox’s condition. They make their money from services and 3rd party purchases and micro transactions. It benefits them to have a reasonable barrier of entry but if they sold the console at the previous price when components, shipping and tariffs are more expensive, they might as shutdown PlayStation and focus on movies

$900 is not a justifiable price for the PS5 Pro regardless of the global economic conditions

I just find idiocy tiring. If I remove context and just say s*** like you, my cognitive function will degenerate.

Lol PC's aren't "cheap" these days either... But this might make some people here who can afford it maybe consider it.

Anyway guys you've 3-4 days to get a PS5 or PS5 Pro before those insane prices go into effect :/

with all the fsr and frame gen going on and this price range it honestly is the move. Those 5 exclusive games is another 300 especially with 70 usd games now you at $1200 + PSN, just wont cut it anymore which is why they stopped trying to copy xbox and release on pc/console going forward dum move but hey they will get yall back at this price range I guess

Well that price you're talking about is the "Pro" price and not the regular PS5 which is what most people will get. So you should remove around $250 - $300 depending on which version of the PS5 it is aka digital or disc edition. But yes good exclusives do kind of soften the blow.

Also what do you mean is the move? As in getting a PC? Well the PS6/PS6 Pro will have FSR and FG plus Path tracing... But of course not on the level of a high-end PC.

But still for somebody who can't afford something expensive so won't that person consider getting a PC or PS6 Pro... But maybe a regular PS6 during the Black Friday or Christmas sales as I don't think many people are willing to pay $700 - $800 for a regular PS6... I mean that's best case scenario as it sounds like it'll more like be $900 - $1200... But I hope it won't be that bad though :/

digital edition was a way to undercut series x, that’s why there are discless consoles.

Nothings changed, you can still just buy the disc version, the $80 disc drive upgrade is just so you have the option to upgrade if you got digital ps5

Ps5 pro is only sold digital though you have to buy the disc upgrade for that

Yes running the same x86 processors and cut down versions of gpus that are gonna be in a midrange at this point thats my point the trend is gonna set a new pricepoint that basically says get this and be limited and hope you get the exclusives that make it worth it. We have reached a point where you should have both a console and pc but if you cant do both the numbers start to get real ugly for whats offered as more games go crossplatform. If 2K and Madden every truly go cross platform it gets even darker at these new price points. We not even talking high end at this point your gonna pay high end price in ps6 for what will be last gen pc price and even you shop will outprice/outvalue it entirely. Sony just backtracked on crossplatform cause those margins was getting dicey if they dont reel in exclusivity, which is dying practice right now unless they throw money at studios.

Wait what... For real? Smh so I've to subscribe to PS+ you say? :/

But it's possible if you do backup the PS5 save files or do transfer stuff from for example a PS5 to PS5 Pro though... Right?

@ILoveCheeseCake I'll fam... I'll do it tomorrow or during next week.

I think they did that to prevent people from editing their PS5 saves & cheating, but people will find a way

Yeah you could transfer saves that way, but that's a long process because I think it backs extra stuff up too even if you choose Saves only, but I could be wrong

Mark Twain once said "Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience" but still I try. There’s "the value of the console isn’t $900" and then there’s "I think it’s a bad value proposition at $900" which is fair. This is a PS5 pro equivalent PC build I built on newegg with parts sorted to lowest price (minus controller, fans, KB+M and case)

If every conversation starts off on a foundation of ignorance, it’s pointless, the earth is flat and Jesus was white. If Sony keep the prices high after Trump is out and the AI market crashes we can then discuss greed but angrily throwing your s*** at the walls without looking at the economic and political climate, the concept of demand destruction in consumerism and the overall impact across the tech industry is fruitless

I’m a warrior sure, I don’t pretend to not have a bias like everyone else but an idiot I am not. I didn’t s*** on Xbox or Nintendo for raising their prices because I know that Xbox doesn’t make much money on the series X and they need a price to justify its continued production and Nintendo released a console just as the tariffs were being introduced (Nintendo games not going down in price is understandable because it means more profit if your consumer base is willing to pay it. lowering it must be leaving money on the table and they’re a publicly traded company). I was upset at Nvidea because AMD is so slow that the gpu market is basically a monopoly but I knew they could price the 5080 for more than i think it’s worth because of the crypto boom and now AI boom. Context is key and makes a discussion fruitful no matter how you feel about the subject. Without that, you aren’t really saying anything.

Like when it was revealed that a majority of a game development’s cost is developer’s salaries and gamers first thought was to pay the devs less. There’s no context or understanding of why they’re paid that much, doesn’t take into account the studio’s location, the rising cost of living and real wage stagnation, etc but you’ll somehow get $60 games back if that happens. The cry for more AA games, ignoring the plethora of AA games that come out every year instead putting hollow knight on a pedestal to say "why aren’t more people doing this?". It’s all pointless.

Video games are a luxury anyways. If the company isn’t making profit they cease to exist. We can’t just uncouple from capitalism while actively participating in consumerism. So much about society doesn’t make sense. It’s banging your head against a wall and pretending it’s normal. It’s all f***ing pointless. The matrix is a good movie
