The day a motherfucker calls me classist for complaining about getting robbed on the train...

@americana been saying and agreeing that america's public transportation as it currently is ain't good fam.

MTA has definitely been robbing the city and talking about fare hikes this year like they don't still have problems you'd think the company that decided for the first time in history to "close" the 24 hr subway down last year would've fixed.

But what homie's saying is that IF America actually CARED about its citizens, those homeless people for example wouldn't be on the trains turning it into a home/toilet. The mentally unwell or financially desperate wouldn't resort to victimizing people on the train because we'd have a government that understands it's been a f***ing PANDEMIC and niggas still need assistance instead of this f***ing 90 year old corpse telling niggas "welp, no more unemployment. good luck out there!"

It's not classist to complain about public transportation's shortcomings. It's also not classist to just note if we lived in a country that...y'know gave a f*** that logistically, we'd be better.

I think you might need to read thru this thread again because I am not against public transportation. I am just pointing out the flaws of it and valid issues people have with it, as someone who had and has used it frequently. Those kind of flaws are the reasons why people likely prefer cars over public transportation.

I ain't arguing with the people on the "ifs" and "shoulda, coulda wouldas". I agree with them. What I am arguing is privileged cacs tryna talk over people who have no choice but to use public transportation and pretty much say we are wrong to air out our very valid beef with the public transportation available in our cities, and how we pay so much for the s*** when it ain't even good, and there's a ton of problems with it.

  • Dec 7, 2021

    ultimately depends where you live

  • The reality is that it isn't public transportation >>> cars and it isn't cars >>> public transportation.

Both are important. Especially with how most US cities are constructed. Now should there be changes to this s*** where there is more emphasis on public transportation over car use? Of course. No s***. But again shoulda, coulda, woulda. Til then, imma deal with the expensive for no reason grimey ass NY subways and the damn near useless and oftentimes late NJ Transit buses and trains because I don't have much choice when it comes to getting to and from work. But if and when I get the opportunity to use my car? You damn f***in right imma use that s***.

Godspeed if you live in LA, Houston or ATL lmao

Aight. As a nigga from Atlanta that cited public transportation as one of the reasons I moved to NYC, lemme put my 2 cents in.

    @op honestly is right.

Yeah, there's some cultural things like "blasting the aux", being able to look out the window at the expressway, privacy, and things that look, I also loved growing up.

But the MARTA not expanding past Fulton, Dekalb, and most of the APS counties is one of the dumbest, self-sabotaging and most racist things I've seen from a state.

Since 2008, my folks and I was living in Douglasville and man when my friends would talk about the MARTA and I'd look on local forums and news sites about why we don't have it the reasons literally all ended with the same thing: "We don't wanna bring them city s here." (of course they coded it by saying fugazy s*** like "it would increase the crime rate" like Douglasville ain't the meth capital of Georgia )

If the MARTA had expanded to Douglasville a lot of job opportunities could open up. The economy could improve for a lot of these cities and we wouldn't have to be handicapped by these S***TY ASS highways. For people that never lived in Georgia, this is how bad traffic gets on a daily

Imagine not wanting to remedy this issue all because you don't want dark people from East Point coming to Cobb County.

Public transportation becoming more widespread would help this country out a lot, especially for the poor people.

Can’t disagree anymore, but I’m an introvert who gets in serious moods of not wanting to be engulfed in social situations continuously because life gives me enough of it already so I would legitimately hate getting up every morning having to commute with a bunch of random people while I’m moody af.

This is the same reason I hated taking the bus to school as a kid and thankfully only had to do it for one year.

Being able to control my own experience and the time I leave etc etc otw to work/school is very important for how my day goes.

this, love the privacy and control of driving myself in my own car. not against public transportation but no way i could do that every day to go to work. my car is a sacred place for me, when i feel like s*** i put my music on and i drive, nothing else matters. cant do that on a bus or subway.

Public transportation in America short of NYC is garbage. I’ve met Europeans who absolutely despised our system of pub transportation. They described it as pricey, cumbersome, slow, and dirty haha.

If public transportation had some form of security or something that would be cool. But man Mfs be getting beat and robbed on them mfs especially at night/overnight. Then it be stank and pissy most of the time. It’s just not convenient imo if you always gotta deal with a smell or gotta worry about your safety.

  • Dec 9, 2021

Naw. Public Transportation kept a nigga from playin golf. No one's walkin 4 miles with a full golf bag & your personal belongings just so u can walk another 5 miles playing golf.

That's a total of 13 miles, 8 of em that are unnecessary.

America’s view of public transportation is “let us fulfill the bare minimum necessary for the bottom of the socioeconomic class to get around”

European public transportation is more like “let’s have a reliable and clean system that everyone would actually want to use”
