General question. What do you do about pollution and trash and just the general need for privacy with that set up? I feel like the pandemic was the one blip recently that you can use against public transportation.
I do hate traffic, but I do enjoy leaving on my own time.
Or anyone lived in Japan with subways got something different to describe it?
japan is a super clean country, they have a social norm to not litter. in fact, its pretty hard to even find a trash can. most people just hold the trash with them until they get home. in the US, people litter on the spot if there isn't a trashcan in eye view
a lot of people have trucks because they're transporting large materials, ever go to Home Depot and see all the contractors?
I don't know where you are but you have to wait for public transportation, you're at their discretion
cars provide flexibility and this is coming from someone who uses public transportation constantly lol
Pretty sure contractors and people who move s*** exist in other countries
Hell nah. Take the redline past 47th going south in Chicago
Public transportation is ass
I've had worse experiences with blue line tbh
honestly public transportation sucks
You are forcing yourself to be around people and depend on a train or a bus to get you somewhere. I'd rather depend on myself. That's freedom that many people don't understand or have financially!
no way this is considered a positive
“Other people are terrible! I’ll just isolate myself as much as I can every day in exchange for placing a financial burden on myself because it’ll feed my ego”
U hipsters are forgetting one important factor:
No car=no hoes
Also ppl who take the train and bus don’t even want to take it.
Yeah because public transportation is terribly funded right now so you’re forced to use cars

Is there really a need for privacy?
japan is a super clean country, they have a social norm to not litter. in fact, its pretty hard to even find a trash can. most people just hold the trash with them until they get home. in the US, people litter on the spot if there isn't a trashcan in eye view
Man, people in the US will literally litter with a trash can in view...smh.
Lids and straw paper be all around the gas station counter when theres a big a******* to drop your trash in
No lol
Only people that don’t drive or have a car will agree
This is incorrect
China has 3x the population of the US and about the same land area. They also use fewer cars than the US, at a rate of 227 vehicles per 1,000 people compared to the US’ 816
Also using an unrealistic scenario to disprove the merits of public transportation doesn’t do anything to help you. Flipping the switch to public transportation is obviously not possible, but we should begin redesigning how we live our lives in cities and towns so that we can eliminate more and more cars as time goes on
Obviously if the entire US public transportation system is underdeveloped then it would be a disaster to switch to it
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH YOU BODIED THE F*** OUT OF THIS IDIOT
Density & solid walk/public transportation infrastructure should be the goal in all cities
Literally jst reread Americanas first post, while realizing your perception of public transportation is skewed because you live in the US which has horrible public transporation
Can’t ride around with your bad b**** in a bus
Imagine picking up a date without a car

Japan's subway clean as s***. Was jarring af after being in NYC for so long
Imagine picking up a date without a car
Imagine living somewhere you two can walk together
Can’t ride around with your bad b**** in a bus
Does anyone have a reason that doesn’t have to do with stroking your weak ass egos
Imagine your confidence hinging on a dime-a-dozen hunk of metal because it goes fast nothing unique about it, it’s just because you can go around

They made women only cars too so women are save from pervs

Eh only thing I'd say is convenience maybe? Cuz I know trains stop running after a certain time in NYC, having a car lets me not have to worry about stuff like that I suppose.
also going somewhere where i'm carrying a lot of stuff? like packages, boxes etc
