when she cut her hair she got even finer to me lowkey think they started shooting her differently or something angle wise
Might of had something to do with her clothes too lol

Nah, I'm stanning my African brothers in the industry making a splash. Sad that you're too ignant to recognize the mans n 'em tho
plenty of other black actors & actresses who are either equally or far more talented than the actor who had to go to a Chicago hood to understand what his character Slim's "education level" was.

Part of being a good actor is doing homework to understand his character right?

What are you trying to accomplish with this comment
I'd be glad to hear who you think is better tho

what does he mean by "education level" and since he's one of those black brits who thinks black people share the same experiences around the world then why'd he have to do extensive research? couldn't he just pull from his own experiences?

don't need to name them, just know they exist but ya'll choose to ignore them since hollywood is pushing for Daniel ya'll hail him as king until they find another black brit to push.

I like the movie but it definitely a post 2016 blackity black type film lol u can peep that from the title
Lmao s*** ain’t have nothing to do with the movie
I like it tho and glad to have black cinema be important again even if we gotta have British and African people acting as hood as they can for a few years just to rejuvenate the genre lmao
Samuel Jackson got y'all niggas talking crazy lmao. This narrative needs to stop
This sort of mentality is hurtful, even xenophobic, one "black" experience shouldn't weigh out the other. Dangerous thinking that'll do so much for us. Fine if you wanna indulge in that, but y'all nasty for it

Y'all speak as if niggas not in war or face discrimination and trauma in other parts of the world, chill "just to rejuvenate the genre lmao"

nothing xenophobic about it. saying you had to go to a Chicago hood to understand your character's "education level" sounds offensive to me and I still don't understand what he meant by that. Also like I said, if the black experience is the same everywhere like John Boyega or Daniel claims then why did he have to dig that deep for the role? why couldn't he pull from his own experiences?
and nothing about what Samuel said was disrespectful or false. Hollywood is mostly looking at British Black actors especially for Black American roles. Selma = a brit, Harriet = a brit, 12YAS = a brit, Fred Hampton = a brit. Roles for Black american actors are already limited to begin with and now all of them are going to Black Brits.
On top of all that some of them look down on Black Americans but will gladly play a Black American (ex: Cynthia Erivo).
Nobody hates black british actors but when they're taking up every black american role yes it's problematic. deal with it.

If you're a black person auditioning for the black roles and ending up getting it because of your talent. Good. That should end there, where you're from shouldn't play a factor. We've seen African-Americans play Africans for years, butchering the accents and lingo and Africans still don't make a big fuss outta it. African-Americans have trashed Africans for years in films and stand up so don't even go there with "On top of all that some of them look down on Black Americans". This whole narrative is nasty, I'm sad you feel this way.
And also, Daniel dosen't speak for the black folks outside of US lol, I haven't heard that specific statement so therefore I can't comment. Dam, I only wanted to know who your faves is and who you deemed better really, not this sociopolitical hotep s***. But, oh well. Still f*** with you

Disrespectful to both experiences to act as if they are interchangeable
I’m a fan of Daniel’s work though
Hell look at someone like idris in the wire
They Def can pull it off but it’s funny to imagine them switching up their accent and dialect and how they walk etc even though they’re black

That was not my intent of the post
I don't like us doing this on big platforms (for obvious reasons), so just peep my reply to yay since it applies here too and let's keep it moving fam
also why didn’t they just keep f\*\*\*in walking that s\*\*\* pissed me off they coulda had them just get in the plane as the cops were pulling up
movie was full of dumb ass decisions but f\*\*\* it u gotta make a interesting movie
s
black trauma?
as a black man i liked the rollercoaster of emotions once u really got into it
just wish they made it to the plane no matter if they got shot down or escaped
only flaws i thought it had that i thought could have saved it from that criticism
