After listening to a few albums from a thread of the Best R&B album of all time - album such as The Velvet Rope and Black Messiah - it wasn't clicking for me. Then I realized its because the R&B I listen to, raps a lot more. Such as The Weeknd, Teynna Taylor, Brent Faiyaz, PND, Roy Woods, Bryson Tiller, Jeremih...

So I was wondering if you guys had artist to recommend, and does this genre of music even count as R&B?

You gotta listen to the r&b that inspired them. Try 100% Ginuwine and The Bachelor. Also look into Aaliyah, Playa, Jodeci, and obviously Usher.
