op is in for a journey
Actually need to check out some of his earlier tapes i've missed on as well
Update: just finished listening to Life Before Fame. For someone’s first mixtape dude had the confidence of a 10 year vet. Although some songs were definitely rough sounding you could still see the potential and vision behind them.
Life Before Fame gets a 6.5 out of 10
Nice. My favorites from him are until death call my name, 4Compilation, AIyb2, realer and top
Someone needs to do a Lil B one lol
I fw Lil B but I would never willingly do that to myself
coming back to this thread when you finish listening to it all after 2 long years
Update 2: Mind of a Menace is a big step forward for YoungBoy. Beat selection is improved, voice is more mature, tracks are mixed better and his delivery is more confident.
These two tracks are my favorite off this tape.

Already two tapes in today on the third rn
looks like i have more research to do
Like of course there’s a style that he has but his songs have different themes beats etc

honestly i feel ya i jus think his older s*** needs better mixing/mastering, like one song the 808 quiet af the other everything loud as hell
personally that type of s*** makes it hard for me to enjoy the music properly but overall i like his music

Yea the mixing is ass on his early stuff but sometimes poor mixing gives the music more character
Update 3: Mind of a Menace 2 I feel is him settling on one sound and running with it. Some of the mixing was iffy and beats and general song structure could be repetitive however this is a much more consistent effort than the previous ones. I give it a 7.5/10
My favorite tracks off this

I did this as they dropped and i don't wish that on anyone
Can’t wait to hear @ops thoughts once he’s done listening to the entire discography. My biggest complaint about YB is his music started to sound the same after a while. I would love if he had a wider variety of producers.
