What's his concensus best project? I tried to listen to something and it was trash to me tbh. He gets a lot of hype and I want to find out why

I feel you - I think he has a lot of great songs but his projects are kinda whatever.

That being said - Top, Still Flexin Still Steppin, 38 Baby 2 all fire to me

Update 5. Before I go is basically just a repackaged Mind of a Menace 2 with a few mew songs and a remix of Murder.
The original songs weren’t really notable but I wasn’t horrible either. I give it a 6/10.

I like a lot of his music but AIYB2 has some real weight to it. You can sit back and smoke one and bump the whole thing front to back.

Update 6: 38 Baby as we all know is YBs break out tape and that’s for good reason. On this tape he’s made his sound professional and has greatly improved as a lyricist. My only knock is that the beats were somewhat repetitive. Great feature from Kevin Gates on here as well. 38 Baby is a 9/10.

Update 7: Mind of a Menace 3 is the end of the trilogy and without a doubt the best one. Although he had shown aggression on previous tracks it really comes out in his delivery on this tape. On some songs it felt like he was boxing the beat. Consistent tape with a variety of flows. Mind of a Menace 3 is a 8/10.

Update 8: Although 38 Baby was his breakout tape AI YoungBoy was his first real commercial success and this tape justifies its popularity on each track. Perfect blend of aggressiveness and melody and each track seamlessly transitions. Didn’t feel the urge to skip once. Honestly AI YoungBoy is a 10/10.

Update 9: Ain’t Too Long is a pretty short project but it gets the point across effectively. Honestly this project reminds me a lot of the modern YB sound and I feel that it’s definitely underrated.
