My rent is currently $1700 for a one bedroom. And this is the lowest in my apartment building cause they offered me a discount for resigning. Studios in my building are now as high as $2k, and the crazy part is I see new people moving in like every week.
The problem now is rent us increasing and yet renters are rushing even competing to pay these inflated costs.
this really helps show how f***ed up the US public housing model is
Thank you for this
As someone's that dealt with a lot of housing instability and is dealing with a horrible landlord rn, it's hard hearing stuff like this and knowing how doable it would be if we actually put people before profit

you’re welcome buddy
hope you get out of the situation with your landlord fast, it’s infuriating to see how many s***ty situations come from landlords, ffs.
maybe try to get in touch and join with any local tenants unions in your area, they’ll definitely help you out with the entire thing and give you a hand

Suggestions for looking for tenant unions - I live in Boston?
Suggestions for looking for tenant unions - I live in Boston?
so i tried searching for some online just now, and there’re a few options you could go for; the Boston Tenants Coalition seems like one you could check out. it’s a grassroots coalition between neighbourhood groups, housing advocacy orgs, etc.
there were a few other possible names listed too, like City Life/Vida Urbana and Greater Boston Tenants Union. definitely try checking out their contact details and getting in touch with them, they’ll hopefully reply soon
