Unplayable is a crazy stretch
They feel slightly worse to play but come on
I need the speed of flight and the combat options are so much more robust.
Can’t go back to the other games
Just got done replaying origins for winter since it’s a snowy game set on Xmas eve night.
Still adore it and it does one thing cooler than ANY other Arkham games
When you’re idle during a fight waiting for a parry, Batman still does a fighting stance!! In the others Batman just stands completely still, arms down, hands by his legs. It feels so much cooler to actually be in a combat stance with his hands up
There is a Batmanish quality to NOT being in a fighting stance, because you’re in such control/in such little threat that you just stand still with your arms down, secretly ready to parry.
But idk I prefer the fighting stance

Throw Arkham shadows above knight if you want to get real spicy
i wonder if they’re gonna go back to that damian wayne game concept and actually make since they’re making a new one
Been meaning to get back into the series. Been on a random Batman high lately. Gonna be nice returning to Asylum and City. But to this day I'm dreading going back to Knight because I cannot stand the Batmobile missions in the main story. That's not what I'm playing the Arkham games for.
Knight does still look pretty incredible on a PS4 surprisingly. They fixed a lot of the graphical issues and glitches as well that plagued it on release. If nothing else, it'll be fun to d*** around in for a few days.

Nah Asylum is still better than Origins.
While I appreciate Origins for trying to give you a best of both worlds kinda thing where it has moments when it's open world akin to City, and moments when it's a linear/hub world kinda thing akin to Asylum. Origins just doesn't really do the best job at either of those things to the level of its predecessors.
Better boss battles than Asylum though I'll give it that.
Knight is the best game by far. Story is important but it is the least important factor for a video game to be great. Whatever game is the most fun to play repeatedly is the best game and that definitely knight
Asylum and city are basically unplayable compared to knight
Unplayable is crazy
I'm going through Arkham Asylum for the first time and it's a great game. For a title that came out in 2009, the directions it takes are
, and this is coming from someone who had to adjust to the over-the-top performances first + some button-mashing nonsense. That was until I got to the first Scarecrow encounter and realized the peak unfolding.
Look, given the 2009 landscape, and the trash Batman games that preceded it, Arkham Asylum is damn-near a miracle. Love the atmosphere. I get why it's a classic.
Also played the first half hour of Arkham City and Knight, just to test them on my system. Arkham Knight looks AMAZING and I remember wanting to play City for the longest time as a kid so I'm looking forward to those.

Nobody expected Asylum to be that good. Rocksteady managed to restore the reputation of licensed games and changed gaming with its combat system
Everybody started doing the Freeflow thing after they did
replaying these for the first time in years
Asylum i know like the back of my hand, but it was fun finally locking in and getting every riddle. i love the inside of every building and the architecture will always have me loving this game. the funniest s*** ever tho that the one move u have for the “crazy” inmates is grab them by the neck and punch them into the f***ing ground
City i’m in the middle of right now. the combat is so much crazier. i didn’t play this or Knight as much when i was younger so im finally trying to master the combat and the challenge mode is perfect for it man. idk how i feel about the story tbh. though i f***ing love how gay some of jokers’ voicemails to batman are
Knight is next. i really hope the ta k doesn’t piss me off. i remember being in love with that map tho. the city looks gorgeous

I loved Arkham City's story and the ending. Was surprised to see that it's not so highly regarded online a few years ago

i like the Joker side of the things, the second part of the story with Strange and Ra’s just doesn’t do much for me. i don’t think it’s bad at all, just not as great as i wish it could be

Still a great game but Knight upgraded from it in basically every way
and personally I liked the smaller closed off vibe of Arkham Asylum as well enough to put it over that one
I hated how much Arkham Knight got rid of interior levels, and I feel like the metroidvania aspects of the first two was severely diluted.
Went back recently to replay some stuff from arkham knight.
God i cant believe its over.
I cant imagine what that same team could really do today if they were ambitious enough.

wouldn’t be the same recast conroy and hamill

True. It's really over. Maybe just a remake with the same audio files or a remastered of the first two. Arkham knight still looks really good for a 10+ year old game.
Just beat Asylum. That was a fun game. I said it in the what’re you playing thread but this felt like a near perfect video game. Just enough “open world” to make me feel like I had agency in my choices but linear enough to keep everything moving.
The gadgets were okay. I really only used the 3 batterangs, the straight line, and the pulley down one. Everything else was used when I absolutely needed to. Some of the boss fights left something to be desired as well. I think they did something unique with each boss, but joker especially was kind of meh.
Overall what an intro to the series man. I wasn’t a superhero kid growing up, but I couldn’t imagine the hype in the late 00s to early 10s between these games and the movies. You were feasting.
