This is mad convenient to come out right before her album drops

Numbers seem pretty standard especially if a record label is taking you from cleaning houses to the top new black female R&B act lol

There’s a reason why this article dropped now lol

Yes because LVRN could’ve gotten any talent female popping at that point. They had the major label’s full support and the Apple connect.

    Lol

You hire someone good to negotiate a great contract and use the proceeds to pay them. It's an investment

    “Hire”

“Use the proceeds to pay them”

    😂😂😂😂

“ Understand up front that most attorneys bill on an hourly basis (often between $300 and $700 an hour) and send a bill at the end of each month. Some attorneys bill on a fixed-fee basis, in which you pay a set amount for services (expect to pay $5,000 to $25,000 to negotiate a major entertainment deal, for instance).” I was undershooting the estimate too

This can be worked out bro. If you get paid a 100k for an advance and the lawyer knows he can negotiate that you don't see him or her letting you pay after you get paid even if it means putting a small down payment. A lawyer like this also wouldn't charge by the hour it would be a flat fee

Breaking news: Dumbass contract for a dumbass artist

  • Nov 4, 2021

Signing for that comma, instead of focusing on the business aspect of the deal is a dumb mistake most artist make…

  • Nov 4, 2021

This not rocket science I'm confused. Or are people just so down bad they can't take on beneficial risks

  • Nozuka

how many starving artists can realistically afford a lawyer to negotiate their Interscope deal?

you give them a percentage of your advance

Shouldn’t have signed it she prolly saw that advance and just signed.

That’s still life changing money, but not much in grand scheme of music

110k is not life changing money.. if that record contract holds her under LVRN for three years, they value her at 33k a year salary.

after taxes.. and lawyer fee, you prolly walk away with about 60% of that. not even enough to put into investments

Labels aren’t handing you an offer in physical form lol. Those signing vids we always see is after everything is negotiated by both ends and in black and white, just awaiting final signatures

    Yup

Its a lot of us…if a label offered our broke asses who ain’t come from nothing an $85k advance we taking that s*** in a heartbeat. We not reading a damn thing and that’s just being realistic. We would get offended at anyone even suggesting to us that we should hesitate when weve never seen that much money at once

Threads like these reveal how well off a lot of you mfs really are given these delusional answers that a person who really came from the bottom couldn’t fathom. But I’m here to tell you, without saying it’s right - that opportunity seems like the only way out if you’re used to having nothing

So you people breaking down percentages talking like accountants and saying she could’ve done this and that unbelievable thing for someone at her level at the time…it’s just ridiculous

$100,000 isnt life changing? Yall have to be kids or financially slow to really think this especially during a time where most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.
100k she doesnt have to worry about rent, she can relocate, she can focus on music instead of her other job which was stripping.

    This money is life changing.
