Streets saying it’s pretentious junk where nothing actually happens for two hours, just Dutch angles and eerie music
Esmail please don’t forsake me
this was just alright. the cast was strong and Esmail was able to craft a sense of dread
but it seemed kind of run of the mill for an apocalyptic story and I wasn't really sure what the point of it all was
went away from the character drama in the second half and just ran out of something interesting to say, despite trying to make up for it with long speeches or exposition
Really liked this. Idk if I liked the ending tho
me neither but it was honestly so troll-y I have to respect it somehow
Really disappointing. Started off strong but then just went into preachy metaphorical soliloquies about misinformation and it trusting your neighbor or whatever. I bet there was a better script here before the Obamas got their hands on it.
Ending was dogshit

The Obamas?
I don’t watch a lot of apocalypse movies so this may just come with the genre but it just felt like random s*** happening for two hours. That being said it’s shot really well the airplane scene and the Tesla scene were fire
Can someone explain to me what was the reasoning for everything happening? Just want to make sure I understood it.
America is just at war with an undisclosed army that are blaming other countries that the US has had problems with in the past? Also why was that house the daughter ended up in empty? Rich people left all that food and a place with electricity?
Last thing, Ali character loved those strangers lol. I liked that he was supposed to be someone who still believes in the good in people but bro almost died to get medicine for that kid when he has a daughter back home. He trusts them to take care of his daughter if he died?

think it was purposefully left ambiguous so you felt the same confusion and panic the characters felt. towards the end the point was clearly made that it could've multiple countries acting alone or together. as for the empty shelter I guess you're supposed to believe that rich family lived in the city and didn't have time to escape
but yea all your critiques about the father are very valid and I had the same issues especially because he never learned his lesson by the end. like his daughter was straight up telling him dad this is dumb af and gonna end badly yet it never did. so if the film wasn't about the folly of trusting strangers or how operating under societal rules post apocalypse will get you killed what was the point

That’s true it could be another vacation home Airbnb thing. I thought the rich got a heads up but I guess that didn’t stop Ali character from leaving either. And yeah I wasn’t sure what to get out of this besides if it were to happen were f\*\*\*ed no matter what. No character really changed by the end of it which maybe the point but idk
