It had bigger singles, like as in multiple all on that top level

I think Views is definitely the bigger album overall in terms of what it meant to people and people vibing with the full album

  • 2018 Drake was one of the most dominant years we've ever seen from an artist if we only look at the commercial side of it

    Scorpion summer ‘18 was huge

views was like thriller and and scorpion was like bad

I’m not making a quality comparison but thriller was so big Bad was an instant hit and had like 5 #1s

Like i feel like scorpion benefitted from how much of a smash views was

So you were 13-14 approximately when Views dropped? No offense but you couldn’t really comprehend what that album did for going out, house parties, bars, clubs etc like Views was absolutely massive as a singular body of work as opposed to Scorpion which was carried by its albeit massive singles

There’s a reason people talk about summer 2016 so much and not much about 2018. Views was definitely part of that reason.

Take Care a certified classic but Views is gonna be those ones that kids grow up hearing in the house type classic. I don’t see Scorpion in the same vein even tho it is a huge album.

IIRC Views was the #1 album on BB for over 10+ weeks and keep in mind that was when it was exclusive to Apple Music like that’s just unprecedented for that time

    Nah

VIEWS was big as a body of work, as an album

Scorpion was mostly carried by Gods Plan/Nice For What/In My Feelings/Nonstop.

Massive singles that were probably his peak of commercial success but as an album, no it’s not bigger then VIEWS, not even close.

  • Nov 17, 2024

    highkey really

    Only the singles were bigger

Maybe the biggest singles from Scorpion feel more ubiquitous but I think the feeling in 2016 that came when Views dropped just wasn’t matched when you think about them as entire albums.

And you also have to remember that Drake actively pushed more songs from Scorpion due to the beef and deadbeat allegations, he couldn’t afford to be seen as a nonfactor. I think Views only had a video for Hotline Bling and Child’s Play, but you still heard songs from that album everywhere. It had a big impact on the environment at the time.
