    I kinda agree

I remember views had that filter on snapchat tho it was like everyone was anticipating it

Scorpion had gods plan as the lead tho and had like 5 #1s then the features he was dropping like sicko mode

For rap scorpion was bigger and the "era" was bigger. But Views bigger album overall.

  • It’s the better album views is type ass

  • Nov 17, 2024

its a better album i know that

    scorp is overhated

  • Nov 17, 2024

    It's definitely Views.

Don't get me wrong, the scorpion era was also huge purely based on the sheer amount of hits he accumulated as a solo artist and feature artist.

But views represented the point at which Drake entered that superstar territory next to the Beyonce's, Taylor's, Rihanna's etc.

That album is a huge reason why "Summer 16" is so revered in retrospect.

And it also helps when you do a million first week with an apple exclusive. I wonder how much it would have done if it was made available on all platforms.

So you were 13-14 approximately when Views dropped? No offense but you couldn’t really comprehend what that album did for going out, house parties, bars, clubs etc like Views was absolutely massive as a singular body of work as opposed to Scorpion which was carried by its albeit massive singles

I'd say Drake was more dominant overall in 2018 but Views was easily a bigger album than Scorpion.

Views had way more hype(almost a milli fw) and the singles felt more widespread than Scorpion's due to being poppier and the radio still being a major format in 2016. And it was more iconic and bigger as a whole album.

Scorpion came out in a time where streaming was fully integrated with Billboard and rappers could have their whole album chart high just off of sheer hype. And Scorpion dropped when Pop music was at an all time low whereas Hotline Bling didn't go number 1 because it was competing with Abel and Bruno who dropped massive pop hits then.

Drake, however, was more dominant in 2018 overall cause of the features and the memes that spurred from the Pusha beef(Blackface pic, "you're hiding a child", etc.). His feature game was f***ing insane in 2018 despite Scorpion itself being a pretty bloated mess.

Might be a hot take but I’ll take the rap half of Scorpion over Views

Does peoples favorite Drake album coincide with their graduation age? I know a lot of seniors liked NWTS, my brother’s class liked Take Care, my class liked IYRTITL/WATTBA

Agreed. Something people aren’t even bringing up is Work being a de facto Views song (considering Party and Drake wrote it) it’s became ubiquitous of the “I miss the Work/One Dance/Controlla 2016 summer” like that was real life s*** idk

I will say in 2018 Drake dominated commercially more than he ever has (pretty sure he spent 3/4th of the year with the #1song IIRC) but the difference to me is 2018 had a lot of massive albums like ASTROWORLD, C5, BP soundtrack etc that all made their respective waves

insane.. views dominated from hotline bling drop to one dance drop lmaoo.. sentimental value does not affect objective actual value fam lol

  • Nov 18, 2024

The classic argument of charts vs anecdotal experience

I’ll take anecdotal experience all day

    Views

  • Nov 18, 2024

wonder if bro will ever properly roll out an album again

  • Purrp

    I graduated in 2017

    No it wasn’t

More bigger singles but it sold less and the moment was smaller and more overshadowed by bullshit

  • Was the last album he recorded before Push took his powers. I agree.

Views was viewed as a disappointment in the moment, that had a few hits. With time it has become a borderline classic due to his recent material.

  • Views is a lot better album to me tho ngl

    I graduated in 2017

    No it wasn’t

    I was in college 2014-2021

Views was bigger, Scorpion just had mega hits that dominated but not to the level of views overall

    I dislike both

  • Nov 18, 2024
    mr get dough

views was like thriller and and scorpion was like bad

I’m not making a quality comparison but thriller was so big Bad was an instant hit and had like 5 #1s

Like i feel like scorpion benefitted from how much of a smash views was

this is a crazy perfect way to describe what I was going for

Feel like this is similar for a lot of artists tbh. Music that sentimental value just makes it better subjectively

  • Nov 19, 2024

    man what

Views was so big they had Trump doing the Hotline Bling dance on SNL

  • Nov 19, 2024

Views is and will always be his biggest album

People were going crazy for Views from the 6, waiting for any news, hotline bling memes, coming off NWTS, Back to Back, WATTBA, IYRTITL

    s*** was crazy

  • Nov 19, 2024

View is interesting because it was the first "streaming era" album from Drake. I remember it was exclusive to Apple music for a bit. It kinda started this cater to all audiences / get high streams which lowered the overall experience of the album.

Scorpion followed up that approach and it was not his best work in anyway shape or form. It has only gotten worse since

summer 16 man what a time it was

  • Nov 19, 2024

Both albums are trash but Views was a moment.

Views is the better album, and that era had so many hits that lived even past 2016. Hotline Bling, Controlla, One Dance, Work, Too Good, For Free. After the Meek Mill beef, it felt like a year long victory lap. The album was everywhere. I'm certain it kept the lights on at Apple Music in those early days of DSP's and them fighting for exclusives. Scorpion definitely had it's moments, but it was stifled by the Pusha T thing. And the early reception was even worse than what it was for Views.
