Example: Jay is a better artist than Nas but Nas is a better rapper.
Wtf does that even mean?
Rapper = Hip Hop artist
Producer = Hip Hop artist
Stop disrespecting the genre by separating the two and acting like rapper and artist are too completely different things. It’s corny
but they literally are
Jay z isn’t even the type of rapper I’d call an artist if we’re being real. That makes no sense
and lyrical miracle = good lyrics
even though making relatable or catchy lyrics takes effort as well
Jay z became an artist when he made WTT and MCHG. Artists try new things outside their pedigree while rappers stick to rapping

He def is tho
He def is tho
I just don’t see it. As far as a rapper I’ll give credit where credit is due but what leaps of faith or steps towards progression has he really taken to make the leap from top rapper to an artist
same with singing, you can be a good singer but a s*** artist
you can play guitar amazing and make s*** songs
it's not that deep
Rappers are artists. Anyone separating the terms in hip hop are just covering for a sub par rapper
When people bring up someone being a better artist when the topic is who's the better rapper yeah its dumb, but if someone just prefers the overall music over the other then its not a big deal tbh
It's corny to call things corny honestly. Nobody even understands what that word means now.
This high key true. Like part of kinda gets it, yeah I suppose you do more than rap. But at the same time...what's wrong with being labeled as a rapper? Is there some sort of shame in it? Everybody wanna be called an artist or a rockstar, but getting called a rapper ain't right?

it’s like the difference between Eminem & Lil Pump. Em is clearly the better rapper, but Pump makes better music than Eminem even though they both rap, so Pump is the better artist
When they use the term "artist" in GOAT debates, it's usually about who makes the best bodies of work (Albums).
You can be a mid or bad rapper in terms of pure rapping skill but greater at making albums than a lot of highly skilled rappers.
You can be a pure emcee/traditional rapper (all you do is write lyrics) and still be a better artist than an artsy experimental rapper if you know how to put together better projects.

OP right. Nas is a better rapper and artist than Jay
