Buying a laptop that’ll stop getting updates in a year or probably already has is awful advice my friend

I have a Mid 2012 pro and it still receives updates.

Apple stops models receiving updates when the hardware is deprecated.

If you replace said hardware with newer spec, it’ll still receive updates.

If you want to pay 1.5/7k for an overheating laptop you can enjoy that.

    I’m saying save your money.

That’s completely false. The OS updates are fully reliant on your model. Why are you spreading misinformation?

There’s only one more MacBook that isn’t full of soldered parts and that’s probably getting support cut by next year

    Why are you upset?

The point being is that you can patch an older model to receive updates regardless. I’m not sure why you’re trying to get OP to waste money to fuel your agenda.

OP says “ Literally use a laptop for movies/shows, browsing the internet and occasionally will do invoices/quotes for work”

This does not come across as somebody who wants to buy a 7 year old computer and open it up and replace parts and patch OS updates

Neither. Take the money and buy books.

And he doesn't need to spend 1.5k on a machine to literally browse the internet and stream movies and TV.

A $500 laptop will do the exact same thing.

I’ve had my MacBook Air since 2014 and it’s the best laptop I’ve ever owned for doing what you’ve done. Completely reliable, easily towable, and the battery is a trooper. Well worth the money imo.

Imagine doing that and not copping a Desktop

Imagine not having a desktop and a secondary gaming laptop for ON THE GO gaming

Imagine owning a labtop in 2019 or a cpu for that matter.

Literally use a laptop for movies/shows, browsing the internet and occasionally will do invoices/quotes for work on my personal laptop if for whatever reason I need to do one without the business laptop being around. What do you guys recommend?

check out the new surface pro if u dont mind windows

but if ur set on mac (I am too) definitely go with an air, u dont need the "pro" aspect of the MBP for your light usage

  • Nov 25, 2019

For what you're saying you'll use it for, I'd say get the Air since it's the geared towards consumers... you'll really start seeing its limitations if you start dabbling in things like video editing, photoshop/lightroom, coding, etc. but if you don't think that's in your future then a Pro isn't necessary.

  • Always get the pro,the air is literally a scam for what you’re paying
