Ideally we should claim no sides since we are all human but real talk stick to the race that treats you the best

that’s just lying to yourself
so what are you saying? That you claim to be black because your black family likes you more?
edit: you’re always gonna feel out of place around white folk if you’re not just white. that’s just the way it is.
what i’m saying is while i know i’m both, i identify myself as black more, it’s how i grew and what i’m used to, tbh i even be forgetting i’m half white sometimes
Not at all fam
just because one treats you better doesn’t make you that race. that sounds mad silly.

People of different races have an unspoken affinity towards each other. Especially if they are the only ones in a group. I guess for mixed ppl it's a lil harder, but imo you just go off of facial structure/features.
They can do whatever they want. No one “should” do anything based on others opinions/feelings on matters they aren’t affected by.

it does affect me when someone who is white and black claims to be black yet doesn’t struggle like me. We’re just not the same.
Society claims it for them depending on what they look like
You look like Logic? You're white. You look like J Cole? You're black
- BRAVEIsnt logics dad biracial hes only 25% black
it’s not about being “enough”. it’s about who you really are and why you get to just claim something that you aren’t. If you’re biracial, you’re not a single race. You’re both that’s why it’s called being BI racial.
Seems like you should be happy to claim both races instead of acting like you’re only one. You aren’t. Is that not facts?
agree but i don't see why claiming one of your races in an instance automatically means you deny your mixed status/your other race
why shouldn't a mixed person be able to speak on issues that concern one of their identities? as long as they're mindful of their status, why should they have to qualify their statements as if they mean less because they're mixed?
Been thinking about this lately
My nephew who’s 10 years old is mixed (black and Mexican) but my sister’s bf wants to raise him as a “black man”. Her bf ain’t the father btw
But I hate dude tbh. All he teaches him is negative s*** about being black.
It’s like he wants him to forgot his Mexican side (me and my family)
My nephew even sees himself as black. All his avatars in video games look like regular black people. Not like how he actually looks. He has a dark skin tone of a Mexican and Mexican hair but you can tell he’s mixed.
He looks like Saint West
idk I just don’t want him to forgot all parts of his culture. About the family that actually took care of him (me and my parents)

If you’re claiming to be something you aren’t and forgetting about your other race, i see that as a problem. If you’re embracing both sides, that seems like the right thing to do.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. This is a big problem.
I’m every continent basically and s***s weird idk who I am sometimes cus I don’t really look like any race that’s in me and I grew up with one culture
I claim black because my mixture is multi generational and I don’t have stereotypical traits like green eyes or loose curls. Calling to be mixed in my case would be corny
Idk but Idgaf about the supposed “mixed struggle”
It's the white in them that makes them think an inconvenience is a struggle.

it’s not corny it’s literally who you are.

i’m sure that’s hard to deal with. is one culture more talked about or celebrated in your household?
I'm 1/2 white, 1/2 black. The white kids I grew up around never let me forget that I was anything other than black (I lived in rural parts of Alaska for a large part of my youth). To them, it didn't matter if I was 1/2 white and fair-skinned, I was still black. I've also always felt more comfortable in a room full of black people than a room full of white people, so I identify as Black. I would never deny that I am part white tho, because 1) that'd be denying my mother, who is amazing, and 2) it's pretty obvious because I'm fair-skinned.
I also have Native American and Puerto Rican (it's Black Puerto Rican, anyways) ancestry. But those are two cultures that I don't relate to at all, so it feels disingenuous to claim them.
