Chicago Freestyle, Time Flies, War, B.B Freestyle, Going Bad, Sicko Mode are mid to you?
better than the songs on CLB
Chicago Freestyle, Time Flies, War, B.B Freestyle, Going Bad, Sicko Mode are mid to you?
I'm talking projects, every project he's had been mid
But yeah most of those songs aren't great by drakes standards. Chicago, war, bb, keep the rest
you're right,
idk if it's the labels trying to get as much streams as possible dubbing them albums, but it just hurts the artist in the long run if they don't think every track is A1
I feel like artists need to realize the promotion for their project impacts the reception quite heavily, they're essentially pitching an expectation
It's exactly that.
They don't have to produce physicals anymore, yet they can still profit from streaming. Even if the album sucks they're still making a nice profit from the debut.
It makes 0 sense to allow them to release something for free when anyone can literally upload something to streaming ON THEIR OWN using a site such as RouteNote.

Nigga said keep the rest like Desires ain’t on there 😂

Read my post again, I’m saying he saying he needs to shut up = chill with the features because the Drake effect is him taking over and saving songs as per the public
& he’s dropped 1 project (of demos & leaks) since Scorpion so idk what you’re on about

desires ain't on there?
I know. It's blurry these days.
I remember 50 Cent dropped AA as an album then he called it a mixtape when it flopped.
I think Drake did the same thing with More Life. He called it a playlist when it got overshadowed by DAMN.
I think it all depends on the purpose for the project. Mixtapes are usually used to build up hype for the album. The album is the final product while the mixtapes are musical promo essentially.
he was calling it a playlist throughout the whole ovo sr promo tho, and dark lane a demo tape
i just wish he'd appease more of the styles he explores with full projects rather than dismissing the idea of a cohesive, connected album through wanting to not abandon a style

Features sure but CLB the best album he's dropped since Views at the very least
the hate are ppl who want to hate, its not because the music bad

Oh okay. I didn't know that.

eh the narrative seems to be that Drake hasn’t evolved his sound on CLB (when he’s really the only major artist of the big 3 to tackle various genres - afrobeat, dancehall, uk drill) this man needs to add a chord progression and an 80s synth for this site to acknowledge him it seems lol

Sounds like some nerd s***
Nobody cares
If he was dropping mid for 3 years and dropped CLB, this site would be drooling.
That exactly what he did

this ain't even about dropping mid, like DLDT was good for quarantine but if you make music for a year or two straight that you mess with and you have to scrap ten drill tracks, why not put them together as a drill tape with no promotion and no money invested
worst comes to worst, you say that's not the album rather than your drill fans being fed one song on the album and not messing with the rest
Sounds like some nerd s***
Nobody cares
it seems all of ktt cares with the threads i see
I miss the mixtapes when rappers would just rap over someone else beat.
they got to work on they bars and flow and feed the fans before an album came out but now it just feels like these rappers don’t got enough skill and bars to do this anymore tbh. they just trying to make tiktok songs and go viral lol
how do you define a mixtape these days anyway? i've seen albums been called mixtapes
it's true, it's a very loose term
i guess i mean those mixtapes dedicated to a certain theme
like kid cudi doing satellite flight before trying to go all out for his rock phase
or even Charli XCX dubbing POP 2 and No 1 Angel as a mixtape to embrace her hyperpop phase before fully making Charli, the album, which sprinkled in some traditional pop
Now if we want to take this even a step further.. we could even say that CLB is more like a mixtape than an album as well. No real importance to any of the songs, mostly just trap bangers. Written by the hottest new artists (obviously, you can tell by the flows)
f*** yes
They should it would be dope for nostalgia alone but I feel like those days are long gone sadly
We’d have to revamp the format of the mixtape because it no longer falls under the definition it used to be

I agree with this feeling like more of a "mixtape"
I feel like he looked at his career as a whole on this album rather than the time before his last album run, which I don't advise
In this era of retaining people's attention, Scorpion is the last thing the majority of people remember since that's the image he promoted so heavily
The album ends up sounding more jumbled rather than a culmination of sounds heard in an era
This feels like a greatest hits to me rather an album, personally, which goes back to your mixtape point

charli did those tapes cause her label wasn't f***ing with the s*** she was doing so her label let he do the mixtapes with zero promotion or music videos
probably best thing for her career cause it made her have really cult fanbase
