Saw this and it really confused me as to why they think the progressive position would be to strip away a parents right to raise their children how they want and this is coming from me, someone who isn’t even a fan of private education.

don’t even see how that would be a controversial take lol

most progressives don’t have a fond view of religion unless it’s some niche s*** or New Age nonsense

They’ve been trying to take Jesus out the schools word to Ye

There is nothing progressive about this take. More weirdo identity politics for small brains.

Religious schools are grammar schools you pay for with devotion

I guess it’s because they believe religion is inherently reactionary but if that’s true taking away the reactionaries educational and religious liberties would further embolden them

I think it’s probably controversial to them because younger left wingers/progressives don’t care that people believe in a higher power and that enrages annoying ass anti theists

Me too, don’t understand how stripping away religious liberties is progressive just because adherents of said religions don’t align perfectly with their idea of progressivism let’s be real that’s the real reason

"progressive" is just a rebranded reddit lib, so it's not surprising these people have a vast hatred for religion

Yeah both sides of the extremes need to stop trying to force others to live how they want to live. We can all coexist under the freedoms given

Agreed it’s not even a real political position tbh. Also look in his bio he considers himself egalitarian but thinks stripping away peoples rights is cool

Most religious people I know Christian’s, Muslims, Jews etc are pretty chill when it comes to progressive values even if they don’t fully agree with them or may vocalize that they don’t agree with them. I think alot of people like this on the left get so fixated on these issues that they can never view people as having dynamic views or opinions and thus are undeserving of respect which backfires because of course if there isn’t respect you’re going to turn people off. I also think part of the problem is that alot of these types barely interact with anyone outside of their bubbles or don’t even actually do political work outside of "discourse" online so in turn they become kind of these anti social weirdos disconnected from everyday people

If freedom of religion exist then so should schools regarding religion obviously

But schools should also have a choice not to have religion

That is actually progressive and what we have already

Also I think this could be a issue if it’s a religion that’s heavily tied to culture/ethnicity like Judaism, just because some white lib has religious trauma the lil jewish homies shouldn’t be able to learn their traditions and s***?

These idiots think separating church and state means using the state apparatus to discriminate against religious people and organizations
