Yea but religion would still trump all of those movements combined, also most nationalist movements are often religion based.
The real problem is religious thinking is regressive, it’s the opposite of critical thinking. It reinforces and breeds stupidity and illogical tendencies because it’s so dependent on it.
Sep 17, 2023·1 replyGDawgMost religious people I know Christian’s, Muslims, Jews etc are pretty chill when it comes to progressive values even if they don’t fully agree with them or may vocalize that they don’t agree with them. I think alot of people like this on the left get so fixated on these issues that they can never view people as having dynamic views or opinions and thus are undeserving of respect which backfires because of course if there isn’t respect you’re going to turn people off. I also think part of the problem is that alot of these types barely interact with anyone outside of their bubbles or don’t even actually do political work outside of "discourse" online so in turn they become kind of these anti social weirdos disconnected from everyday people
You are right but it goes both ways...
There are also religious people who think they are hell spawn for their choices or conservatives who think they are "causing the fall of the west", I'd say this what leads to the progressive types you describe who think everyone who fits in those boxes are exactly the same.
Echo chambers are also common on both sides, it's why you see news channels, political pundits, twitter pages etc all have the same talking points and the same hive mind opinions. They lack nuance or any context.
What type of political work are you thinking of in your last point? I wouldn't downplay discourse tbh, it's what leads to social campaigns which may reach the ear of their local or state level politician
