“And What’s Good With RAPEMAN?” might be my favorite Tweet of all time, and I probably listen to Rapeman more often than I do Tyler.
sounds like hes quoting them but instead of saying they said "the n word" or even saying it with an a he keeps saying with er

The Pixies, as a band, they were fine. Whatever. They were fine. I thought as a band, their music was kind of unremarkable. Especially considering the extraordinary range of experiences that you could have in the punk scene at the time, I felt like their music was fairly conservative

Hardcore punk, noise stuff, whatever, if you look at all of the underground music that was happening in the 80’s, they were pretty musically conservative compared to other stuff at the time (hell, compared to just Albini’s bands). They’re not not weird but they’re also primarily influenced by poppier stuff like the Beatles and the Ramones and Hüsker Dü, all of whom have lyrical matter about as outré as the Pixies.

he did call them "unremarkable" tho which is a stretch but compared to the rest underground scene of the era i can see it. royal trux, butthole surfers, minutemen, basically all of touch & go records
I like them more than all of those bands they’re influenced by but I can also probably play any of their albums in the car with my mom, no problem, you know?

right but taking something and making it cool and relevant again is part of art too, hell nirvana picked on the pixies too - did albini said those same things about nirvana too? aren’t they pretty conservative in every same aspects?

but that’s not a bad thing imo - not every band has to be incredibly punk until the speakers bleeds, there’s nuances to it
