You aren't really wrong by any means but ideas exist separate from personality, even in a modern context absolutely abhorrent people can still have intelligent observations or theories. Like if quantum physics theories had contributions by racists, it doesn't suddenly make their contributions any less significant, it's just more of a reason to focus on their contributions specifically instead of the "celebrity" of the contributor. It's not any different with philosophy.
