Young DWhat kills me about the minimum wage stuff is I’ve legit seen some well off people on Twitter saying that raising the minimum wage is bs because “those high school kids working minimum wage jobs don’t need it” like it’s really just high school kids that need to work minimum wage jobs, and there’s not a huge amount of people working minimum wage jobs to support their families

He never once alluded that he’d do anything remotely close to tanking the bill

The figure is irrelevant. He point blank said that he will vote to defend the Byrd rule and side with the parliamentarian. He didn’t even leave an inch of room for interpretation of his stance.
His actual quote was: “My only vote is to protect the Byrd Rule: hell or high water“. So maybe you don’t interpret that as him alluding to tanking the bill, but I would have to say you’re wrong.
