So you would prefer that they kill what little covid relief people are getting to virtue signal with a portion of the relief bill that makes it DOA based on the fact that people with votes that are required for it to pass have come out and publicly stated they will not vote for it with the minimum wage addition?

That’s not very progressive of you.

    You’re a f***ing idiot

Manchin and especially sinema would never sink an actual relief bill over one element they say they dnt support

Many people like congressman khanna and aoc already disproved this stupid talking point

Progressives themselves criticized aspects of the bill but ofc no progressive would’ve been the one to sink it if it came to an actual vote

You’re inherently biased bcus u cant see that biden and the democrats constantly bow to their right most instincts because THEY WANT TO

Manchin has his little routine sinking 1.9 trillion of stimulus when UI is expiring isnt it. Dems CHOSE to not got forward on it

Dem CHOSE to not prove his theoretical “disapproval” and match it up with the practical

Dems CHOSE to use it as cover

What kills me about the minimum wage stuff is I’ve legit seen some well off people on Twitter saying that raising the minimum wage is bs because “those high school kids working minimum wage jobs don’t need it” like it’s really just high school kids that need to work minimum wage jobs, and there’s not a huge amount of people working minimum wage jobs to support their families

Privileged idiots who worry about others people money while being content with being underpaid themselves
Fools mad at other people instead of the system

I implore folks to not fall for the kabouki theatre

We’ve seen this playbook. They abdicate blame to their right most senators

The only person responsible for no minimum wage or public option or debt cancellation is JOE BIDEN

I mean... a lot of these wealthy people probably barely even do that tbh. We’re represented by people that couldn’t tell you what a loaf of bread costs.

The people I saw saying that s*** on Twitter weren’t wealthy tho. They were just upper middle class suburban maga people

He’s on record saying multiple times that 1.9 is the figure

He never once alluded that he’d do anything remotely close to tanking the bill

All he said was that he’d prefer a $11 figure

    This is head canon man

The figure is irrelevant. He point blank said that he will vote to defend the Byrd rule and side with the parliamentarian. He didn’t even leave an inch of room for interpretation of his stance.

His actual quote was: “My only vote is to protect the Byrd Rule: hell or high water“. So maybe you don’t interpret that as him alluding to tanking the bill, but I would have to say you’re wrong.

Wrong again ik you’d say this 2 posts ago

Kamala doesn’t need manchin votes to ignore the parliamentarian

The only avenue manchin and cinema would’ve had to voice any “discontent” would be to vote down the whole package something anyone with common sense can see they’d never do. Voting against a very popular and very needed stimulus plan in the new president of their party’s honeymoon period? Come on get real

But we’ll never no becuase for absolutely no reason(We know the reason) biden and kamala are caving on this

What the f*** are you talking about? I didn’t say that they need Manchin’s vote to overturn the parliamentarian. He’s not going to support any legislation that goes against her decision.

Lmao at public information that was probably pointed out to you last week being your ace in the sleeve though

I know that all of this is really mostly internet arguments with no effect on real electoral politics, but I find it strange that certain people on the left think that if the minimum wage fails, the party that should be attacked for this is... democrats. Like if you really believe that the minimum wage is extremely popular, you should be shouting from the rooftops about how every single republican should be replaced with a democrat. Instead, people are falling for the republican game. Their entire f***ing strategy is to make sure nothing gets done, hoping that people will blame Biden for the consequences.

Everyone with a brain knew the Republicans would do that. Now ask yourself why dem senators have come out against the 15$ min wage, why Kamala won't overrule the parliamentarian or why Schumer wont fire her, and why they spent more time fussing and fighting to try and get tanden confirmed than they are a min wage increase

Because Manchin has said he will sink the bill and will not vote for a bill that circumvents the Byrd rule. I legit have no clue why so many leftists choose to completely ignore the legislative process. How about this: if Bernie was president right now, do you think a $15 min wage would be getting passed, and if so, how would he do it?

Yeah same exact circumstances. Not sure who VP would be but you can pick someone, likely more open to overruling the parliamentarian.
