The Senate approved President Biden's $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package Saturday, over 24 hours after opening debate on the bill. A grueling amendment process, known as a "vote-a-rama," was stalled for nearly 12 hours on Friday due to disagreements within the Democratic caucus over an unemployment insurance benefit.
The final vote was 50-49, with all Democrats voting in favor of the bill and all Republicans voting against it. The passage of the bill was met with cheers and applause from Democrats, celebrating the passage of one of Mr. Biden's key priorities. Vice President Kamala Harris did not need to visit the Capitol to break any ties, as GOP Senator Dan Sullivan left due to a family emergency on Friday.
The House will vote on the amended legislation on Tuesday, after the House passed a slightly different version of the bill last week. If it is approved by the House, it will then go to Mr. Biden's desk for his signature.

The Senate passed President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion Covid relief plan on Saturday, after an all-night “vote-a-rama” and a 12-hour struggle to get Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin to support the party's plan on a critical issue.
The vote was 50 to 49.
Now the bill goes back to the House of Representatives for a separate vote before President Biden signs it into law.
It's expected to be passed next week.
Wouldn’t you be opposed to him reaching across the aisle tho, since that would naturally make his policies less progressive
Its just funny

I thought they didn't meet on like thursday because there were threats of violence
So when are the checks coming through ?
needs to go back to house for approval (March 9) since they changed the bill. so don’t know yet.
So when are the checks coming through ?
they're saying tuesday i think
they're saying tuesday i think
Tuesday for house vote, then Biden will sign, so you don’t get that check until middle or end of March
So when are the checks coming through ?
Prolly 2-3 weeks from now. Next week the house passes it and Biden signs it. I highly doubt house turns it down. Half the dems don't even want the 15 min increase so it's gonna be easier. Some progressives might get mad but they won't halt sending checks out to the people.
Machin supporting a talking filibuster rule. basically the last thing you can do without getting rid of it.

I have a feeling that they are going to follow through with getting rid of the legislative filibuster at some point. I think it would be a done deal if the senate wasn’t so tight as it is.

If they pass that it weakens the filibuster a lot actually, surprised he is on board but get it done
Can anyone confirm for me.....
So I’m 32 and for reasons I’m not gonna go into right now, I don’t file taxes.... like ever. I “technically” don’t work.
I’ve lived on own the past few years....
Well because I don’t file taxes, and my mother knew this, she took it upon herself to file me as a dependent on her taxes.... without me knowing.... I had no idea until that first stimulus checks went out and I wasn’t eligible to get one.... I guess I’m considered an “adult dependent”..... so I haven’t gotten a single penny from any of these stimulus checks because of my mom....
But I read that adult dependents now qualify for this new stimulus, just they don’t get their own check, the extra money goes onto whoever filed them as a dependent....
Is that the case?
