the idea of PPP loans in theory weren't the worst idea ever but the way they were handled literally gotta be one of the biggest scandals in american financial history

i got one though (albeit for like just a few thousand) which is why i have no complaints about the federal loan forgiveness

i will say to be fair most people who committed blatant fraud with PPP & EDL got caught. i definitely think a bigger issue is there wasn't enough regulation written into the PPP for specific, direct usage of funds restrictions, which of course meant for many usage cases there simply wasn't enough to qualify fraud even though it was to a degree in the more general sense rather than the literal legal one. the way PPP was basically just handled by banks who got rubberstamps to do whatever with the free money was the beginning of the end.
