well the "frankfurt school" doesnt really exist, its just another academic term for people who get lumped into "western marxism" or "critical theory", which themselves are kind of useless terms. Adorno has some interesting work but he himself became a reactionary, Benjamin is legit but not really part of the "school", same with Lukacs who was always too "stalinist" for the rest of them. Grossman has good stuff too. but so much of it is just people trying to theorize about obscure liberal crap like "totalitarianism" or "instrumental rationality", it is for the most part garbage.

nobody seriously cares about Fromm or Marcuse, Habermas was a liberal, Heidegger was a fascist, etc.

That's one of those movements where I don't have a good grasp of the totality of it but recognize it has a lot of necessary developments within in it (like reinvesting money from policing and prison budgets to underserved communities to prevent a lot of the causes of crime, s*** like that...)

That being said, making the argument for something like this while still assuming it can be done under capitalism doesn't seem like a fully thought out argument to me,

A lot of the current realities of this prison s*** could've been prevented and things should be done today to prevent it from continuing to be this way,

TL;DR: Many issues under the prison abolition umbrella are necessary changes, from prison-for-profit industries, to certain predatory laws being abolished.

(made a few edits to clarify points)

on the contrary, you can't abolish the american black people concentration camp system while capitalism still exists which is exactly why its a good thing to organize people around, it shows the necessity of decolonization

Would it be accurate to say muslim countries have actually become more conservative and less secularist since WW2 as opposed to Christian countries?

a religious country is inherently not secular so I dont know what you mean. I'm gonna say no though since there's like two dozen new "christian" fascist eastern european s***holes where socialism used to be

I'm thinking the entire Muslim world in aggregate. Are there big differences between regions?
