These french election results... LOL. When I was reading Meisner on China, what always jumped out to me was Maos faith in the people. A feeling completely alien to me. I have absolutely zero faith in them. No copium about well THIS demographic or THAT country is different. Maybe "communism or barbarism" was a real question in the early 20th century, but today it looks to me like the die's already been cast.

You’re letting a bunch petite bourgeois white people in a western country make you give up faith in the millions and millions of oppressed masses?

The Palestinians are currently spreading the contradictions of imperialism wide open. Indian and Filipino communists are waging active revolutionary wars. There’s shining examples of struggle by the masses all around. Where did i ever “handwave away troubling political currents”? Just because I’m not spouting defeatist, anticommunist disdain for the masses all because of an election in f***ing France doesn’t mean I’m living with my head in the sand. You should go out and try organizing your community, you will doubtless encounter the masses willingness to struggle if you’re talking to actually exploited people and not a bunch of college students or labor aristocrats

there’s some sick humour in watching a soviet bureaucrat try his best to prevent ww2 but has to worry about his paranoid leaders shooting him like some of his comrades

Are you reading what you're typing? You can convince yourself that the developped world because is all just "college students and labor aristocrats" but billions of people live in North America, Western Europe, East Asia, etc, and whatever happens in those countries has huge impact on the developping nations. Dont need any lectures about organizing. India is one of the worst examples for this. That country is ruled by a borderline fascist MASS MOVEMENT, the naxalites are fringe however great the work they do.

I said precisely the opposite. Have you gone out and tried to organize working class people? Cuz I do and i live in the US. You’re completely missing the point here

Saying you have zero faith in the masses because of an election in France is a wild leap to make and is anti people and anti communist bullshit

Obviously it's not just the elections in France, it's the global rightward shift. If anything my experience with the local labor movement has in many ways reinforced my perspective.

its the only system which allows us to scientifically and rationally plan our economy based on human need. capitalism on the other hand is driven by the anarchy of the market and is hurtling us toward multiple manmade extinction events.

You're asking the wrong questions, look around the world. Why is the cost of living spiraling out of control? Why are we sleep walking into climate catastrophe? How come our "democratic" political institution are at the mercy of moneyed interests?
