Tuneout2 things, first, JIK is so fire and underrated. I think people just dont like because of the religious stuff. But its incredible. second, It’s interesting for sure he operates more like a director on a movie set than someone playing all of the roles in a one man show. It’s still his ear that puts together the album and chooses the sounds and a lot of these musicians are probably really influenced by him and he probably has more oversight in aspects of it all than we realize. Like on a movie set every decision is made with the director in mind u know
the album just isn’t good man lol he basically used yandhi demos and poorly re-recorded them to be clean and the writing was horrible. The mixing is probably the worst of any album he’s done and that’s cause again it was all done last minute. I feel like if he spent more time perfecting it, JIK could have been special. It just feels like a bland album that was thrown together in like a month. It has zero to do with it being a christian album cause the religious based songs he did on Donda blow this album out of the water. Ain’t no song on JIK better than 24 and Come to Life

If you kept the entire album sonically/instrumentally the same but just changed the lyrics to be secular like Yandhi everyone would have considered it a classic
JIK was an incredible album but I guess some people just couldn't connect with the religious themes
