It's good only super cool guys who call everything corny hate it aka hipster f***s
Nah its honestly not that good
“Without Me” was the beginning of the end
But the difference is he could still flow while delivering funny controversial lyrics. His new s*** is so forced
And Christopher Reeves won't sit for this neither
And let's clear this up too, I ain't got no beef with him either
He used to be like a hero to me, I even believe I
Had one of those 25-cent stickers on my refri-gerator
Right next to Darth Vader
And Darth must've put a hex on him for later
I feel like it's my fault, 'cause of the way that
I stuck him up in between him and Lex Luthor
I killed Superman, I killed Super—
Man, and how ironic
That I'd be the bad guy, kryptonite, the green chronic- Rain Man
You don’t understand how someone releasing trash after trash doesn’t hurt how their work is viewed in totality?
yeah
Prince for example shoveled out a load of subpar work after the 80s in an effort to get out of his contract with Warner Bros, you mean to tell me that because of this he’s no longer one of the greatest musicians ever?
his run from his debut all the way up to Around The World In A Day/Parade is suddenly discounted?
music isn’t sports man, this is solely a thing that only happens in hip-hop, metal fans, rock fans, even R&B fans (somewhat to a lesser extent) don’t try to discredit someone entirely as an artist because they put out some bad albums
it’s dumb as s***
I know it was already mentioned itt but Fack one of the worst songs of all time.
I get it's a joke song but it's hella gross and weird,
and cringe like why make this?
Grown man talking about shoving gerbils up his butt.
I like Fack it's funny
no such thing as “ruining a legacy”
him releasing trash doesn’t take anything away from his peak, genuinely never understood this mindset
twitter brained s***
exactly this
he's a legend for his first albums because they're all classics and this will never change, no matter how "bad" his music today is
most people still like his new s*** anyways
“Without Me” was the beginning of the end
Without Me one of his best songs
yeah

Yeah it's known that Metallica have been dropping mid for decades but they have a run of 5 classics and you can't take that away
as a very lapsed eminem fan i feel like Rap God was the divide for a lot of people
fast raps = good gang were over the moon
everyone else was like this is dog s***
Anything after Recovery
He been mad insecure tryna defend himself against the inevitable progression of the industry and life in general lol. He’s a historical figure in this world and has done everything right it’s no shame in setting the crown down and realizing you did it all already. He’s f***ing his image up he look like he’s trying mad hard he doesn’t need to do that
Every record is “oh I’m gonna show y’all” over some garage band beat w forced features and beyond cheesy promo
The industry is so compressed now so it’s heavy strategy involved in retiring and maintaining a legacy but idk maybe he’s tryna get s*** on idk
yeah

One of your better posts
Also that coffee pot bar like what how are we not supposed to hate on that he is embarrassing I hate it bc I respect him
Without Me one of his best songs
For me “without me” is when the gimmick took over and he began his decent into cringe/pop rap.
yeah

If prince had 1 or 2 great albums and then put his effort into bad music project after project with no label situation we are not talking about his work the same way. But yes based on talent, length of a run and popularity some people are more teflon
You can’t take away someone’s work so maybe legacy isn’t the greatest work but if you f*** up your brand or hit a steep decline people are going to view you and your work differently.
Also it’s not just hip hop, this is a thing in media. You can just google “bands/any type of artist that have tarnished their legacy”
forum.phish.net/forum/show/1377080727
ranker.com/list/bands-that-have-ruined-their-legacies/jessica-defino
tasteofcinema.com/2015/10-movies-that-ruined-famous-filmmakers-careers-and-reputations
And we say hip hop is a sport/competitive so can we really get mad at the comparison to sports in the first place?
I hate when people say xyz only happens in (insert community) when it clearly doesn’t, that’s just what you’re only familiar with
If you google artists that ruined their legacy hip hop doesn’t even make the first pages

”If prince had 1 or 2 great albums and then put his effort into bad music project after project with no label situation we are not talking about his work the same way.”
yeah because you niggas treat music like it’s stats and it’s sports
regular people don’t do that s*** man. most people care about what their favorite albums are and what their favorite songs off of each album are, they aren’t factoring in their entire discography every single time an artist comes up in a conversation
and critics =/= fans, i float around on other music forums and they do not talk about these old ass washed bands the way that y’all talk about hip-hop legends on here, it’s literally night and day
someone putting out some bad music doesn’t hurt their legacy or overall artistry no matter how you try to flip it, if you make music for a long enough time, you’re inevitably going to put something out below standard, longevity is massively overrated for evaluating how good an artist is, and it’s primarily driven out of looking at music like it’s football or some s***
how do we evaluate artists like James Brown who were absolutely revolutionary for funk/soul, but weren’t particularly great album artists? how about Grateful Dead who are mostly known for their amazing live performances over their albums? viewing music one dimensional like this doesn’t work man

Ok good for them? This is a music forum so we discuss the totality of music and that includes looking at an artists body of work to evaluate them. That has nothing to do with stats or sports.
Great bands have put out trash and been forgotten throughout history and their bad work is what’s remembered. This is ruining a legacy. When your bad work is what sticks in your fans’ heads more than the good.
You were one of the main ones in the Kendrick vs drake thread now you don’t see how hip hop is a competition?
And I just told you and showed you that this is not just hip hop. You’re doing this thing where someone will say “only black people whoop their kids!” to seem “in the know” but you’re blatantly wrong.
