@maxxing we get it bro corporations can do no wrong.

I haven’t even once said anything positive about Sony in this thread, just that the technology is changing and this is beyond any one corporation
I do enjoy physical media tho. It’s nice to look at album artwork or w/e
Agreed 100% vinyl and books are cool because the tangible experience is literally different than digital. ps5 games are just a digital file on a disc in a plastic box, doesn’t hit the same
dam

He had inside info
If you aren’t subsidizing hardware and hardware cost are this high with no physicals and the size of games will go up . While the base console hard drives same size so gamers have to upgrade or delete and redownload games idk man
quite literally.
Pc is still right here . Console space idk . There isn’t a ps6 or helix exclusive that I think anybody is dying to play at launch with a 1200 dollar console and still paying yearly for online

nigga a pc cost a billion dollars now
Only those 2? No GOW: Laufey, Venom or whatever else we might get in 2027?
Anyway this generation will end soon anyway so I don't expect Sony to give us many PS5 exclusives before the PS6 is out.
By the way... Apparently so will Sony do like Microsoft and make it possible to convert physical games to a digital version of them.
I sold my ps5 while at game job because I would play so much mortal kombat and didn’t feel like getting home to game more . I was pc gaming and did a refresh with taxes .
Neither console has exclusives that justify that price then paying for online , no physicals . Like I have nostalgia for growing up on consoles . But that’s because ps2, Xbox , 360, GameCube were priced where a kid or teen could work and save for . Pc I can use for whatever . Work , gaming , emulation , game creation . No online subscription cost .
Both Sony and Microsoft haven’t made big enough consumer friendly moves , received ip or created new distinct ip at a fast enough clip for this . If gta vi wasn’t coming many would just wait til ps5 cheap or used and play these games eventually
It‘s so over
nigga a pc cost a billion dollars now
Got one on sale microcenter with taxes im set . After how much random car issues I dealt with past year I deserved .
It‘s so over

Hope that s*** can run GTA 6 lol
Either way I don't give no f***s, I'm emulating and pirating from now on. F*** all these companies unless they are an indie.
I’m not even attacking physical media, I’m just saying there’s so many benefits to digital and whenever I see an argument against digital it’s always taking something out of context or putting spin on it
Fair enough but there are many benefits of physical media too.
Some of the arguments you have made like digital media being cheaper is also not entirely true because there are factors like region at play. I have said it before but in the UK it's almost always cheaper to get it from retailers (day 1) than to get it from the Playstation stores. If not day 1, then getting it second-hand is most definitely cheaper and it also gives players the ability to get some money back from their purchase. A screenshot that shows the difference between the physical disk price and the one available from the store isn't "disingenuous", if you look around you will most likely find a cheaper way of obtaining the game rather than buying it directly from Sony
There are plenty of other reasons that other people listed ITT such as being able to play offline but I feel like the above alone is enough reason for physical media to exist.
I don't know why but I feel like there is some strange belief that people that buy physical media don't purchase digital media which is not true at all. We buy digital media too and understand the convenience. Both can coexist but there are certain factors at play sometimes that makes getting it on physical worthwhile.

Oh yeah it will be able to run it great . They have computers on sale right now like 800-1300 off
They are 100% going to crack down on game sharing . Which you can easily do now but even that shave happens they not letting you move crazy

I guess I view a lot of this stuff as a gradual change to society. I think the average ps5 owner is now buying a lot less games and just waiting for them to appear on ps plus or game catalogue. That’s sort of like the new version of waiting a few years to get a heavy discount on a disc.
Recently I bought ff16 and I really should’ve just waited because the next day it was announced to be on game catalogue
In terms of physical day one, I’m sorry for my UK bruvs though, so you don’t have any way to get the digital credit on sale? That’s genuinely awful I didn’t know

I mean people will still be able to play offline . This isn’t online only but people are acting like it is a bit. Many people acting like this is the end of the world need to see the percent digital from when people said f*** game stores or wanted easy availability is what got us here . I still think ps6 moves units at launch ( just not to teenage demographic and kids as much ) . Parents can’t spend a rack on a game console even if Trump will be leaving office when this drops
