“At Solar, Dre produced on a cutting edge SSL mixing console that producer Rhythm D likened to the Starship Enterprise”

I always wanted to know what Dre used to produce The Chronic and this doesn’t surprise me. No wonder his production sounds so immaculate, this is probably the music equivalent to an IMAX 70MM camera or some s***. I can make a whole thread about The Chronic itself but I just wanted to share this.

The Chronic a Top 3 greatest rap album oat,no debate. I don’t think it gets enough appreciation. It’s a Gangsta Rap album that every other Street album tried to imitate but just couldn’t.

No lie,I wonder if a modern day producer would know what to with this? I wanna say Travis would but I don’t even trust him lol.

aren’t there boards in major studios like this currently anyway?

i’m pretty sure any mixing or lasting engineer uses something similar

That’s 2001 but that still might be an SSL Console. I think these things are way bigger than that pic suggest.

Then why does nothing else sound like The Chronic or 2001 based on mixing and mastering alone?

I know one guy who would. Focus prob "assisted" Dre a lot. Even he had a team of dudes behind him.
