if that's the rule of thumb i don't see how any of these games are making a profit with these budget sizes

they are trying to force horizon because they want to get to movie, tv show, merch and cultural phenomenon

lego is to sell a series that they couldn't otherwise to kids. Astrobot is cute but its also a long form ad for kids they pray will eventually grow up and be like "let me buy the horizon remaster" "dad can I have last of us part 1 remake or get plus premium so I get it for free"

Its all very clear marketing. Especially when you remove the disc drive

then how much do you have them paying a month with no full ownership of their game?

Often to barely play online at all which used to be the primary reason we would pay for online at all.

They flipped the game pass model to their benefit.

oh s*** I got it on plus but I got to buy the dlc well I saved money on the base game so I will buy the dlc

ps plus is kind of genius in this way. Hook them deep with the library and then let some stickler game that they want to play keep them subscribed for another month.

I mean they just copied gamepass and gave people infinitely less for relatively the same price. The smartest thing Sony did marketing wise was make it uncool to own an Xbox. Performance wise Xbox Series X is often better than PS5 in many ways. But with Xbox Series S holding it back often which is a cert requirement sometimes this is paid timed exclusivity but they sign NDAs so they can leak blaming the series S rather than the actual deal of timed exclusivity

timed exclusives like call of duty and destiny s*** is part of how we got here . Smart but dastardly move by Sony. Which I hope Xbox makes it out of this generation because Sony needs competition closer in their lane than Nintendo otherwise they can continue to s*** on their fans chest and they eat it up as we have seen both in this thread and Pro thread.

the problem too is that xbox is kind of digging its own grave right? they have no strong brand identity really. Which gives them nothing to market.

Series S should have been a little more powerful but sold like crack in Japan. Performance wise definitely get more issues and frame rate/ dynamic resolution issues but 150$ for some gamers to get their foot in the door who value just being able to play at all that is major.

How it will fare later and later in the generation who knows. i thought they would go the require internet for machine learning to upscale route cause they have been hyping up their machine learning for the past 5 years

yeah i went through the same process. I bought my s cause it was this cheap ssd using system that could stop gap in between my ps4 and ps5.

That being said tho theres something wrong with the quality control because my machine runs very very poorly to the point that i find it kind of taxxing to even turn on

also idk if you know about this but the clearing mac address s*** to get the internet to run is insanely annoying
