True that's the one with Meek Mill and Lil B.

Those first few classes of Freshmen were all authentic. There's always an authentic artist here and there on the new covers but they all seem planted for the most part

Another person who’s living proof of destiny is Youngboy, odds stacked against him with the most unorthodox style he prevails

Honestly I’m from the south and Youngboy is worshipped down here like a f***ing god. At one point Kodak too. Tastes in music vary wildly by region and demographics.

Kodak literally walks in the booth and just freestyles, sometimes it’s pure garbage and other times it’s insane.

A lot of rappers do the same thing. But they write down bits and pieces they liked and go from the dome again when they’re motivated.

I think Kodak is just a one shot one kill type of person. This could also explain why he forgets his lyrics sometimes at concerts.

The music industry is all about connections

You could be talented and "get lucky" and still not find the fame that you could if you knew someone who could get your name on top

Trust me I love his music been a fan for a while even when he had like one tape out in 2016 and he was fighting a first degree murder case at 16 . I love Louisiana music, BG Juvi Soulja Slim Master P etc

The first rap song I can remember is a Soulja Slim song

Youngboy is definitely living destiny, there so many in more palatable situations with better connections but he’s the rose that grew from the concrete

This is facts but nobody will acknowledge it. There are these completely garbage underground rappers with 1million views on YouTube. I could literally rap better than them and people really hypin they s*** up lmao. They only lucked in literally because of connections and networking.

Any rapper that EVER blew up most likely had connections. They all did. Pac had connections with Shock G. Ye ran into some producers as a teenager and hung out with them to learn music etc. Its all just dumb luck and randomness.

Waka Flakas mom has a lot of pull in the southern music industry and put a LOT of people on. It’s literally all about who you know and if they personally like you enough to put you on.

Yeah I was thinking about that Waka might had the most connections you could’ve had then but ultimately some random kid Young Thug become Gucci’s biggest artist

Young Thug had dozens of people and kids around him , Gunna is just the chosen one it’s not about connections because tons of people have the same connections or even equal talent

Kodak definitely understands how to sequence and make good music. More than just going in a booth and freestyling. I know he does do that sometimes though.

Nah he be writing his s*** too, He been locked up plenty of times he for sure was writing in there. He for sure also goes off the dome but if you actually listen to his albums he can tell they put together well and he puts effort into his music, just being able to word his thoughts and express himself in a way that the listeners feels it is artistic itself. I’ve been to a couple Kodak shows too and he always puts in effort to his performances aswell. Kodak ain’t given the credit he deserves, he really be putting s*** together

  • Nov 30, 2021

This is all a nice thought Op but I’m pretty sure a lot of Kodak’s current success is still connected to the massive push he got at the beginning of his career

Basically his early marketing worked so well that he doesn’t really need marketing anymore

That's not true of Super Gremlin at all. Even if the words were "freestyled", it's a carefully thought out song with a structure, a theme, a consistent mood, the chorus plays off the sample, shorter third verse with a new flow and just the bass and keys, the chopped up sample at the end.

No. It's all about who your uncle is.

    This.
Just google who your favorite artist’s uncle is and you’ll be surprised.
